Default Go Launcher EX Won't Stay Selected

Good Day All,

My wife and I installed GoLauncher EX on our Incredible 2s a week or so ago. Overall, we love the interface. We are having one persistent problem, however.

For some reason, the default home will not stay set to Go Launcher. I set it to Go Launcher and check the box at the bottom to make it permanent. Then within a few hours or so (sometimes within a few minutes), I'll hit the home button and I get asked again which application I want to use, Go Launcher, or HTC Sense. This has been happening off and on since I installed Go Launcher last week, and happens when I'm in a variety of apps, even within another screen of Go Launcher. It also happens several times a day in the same app.

I have tried completely un-installing all the Go Launcher components (Go Launcher, Go Locker, Go Weather and all themes, widgets, etc). Then, I re-installed Go Launcher, set my default home to Go Launcher yet the problem still persists.

I realize that there are other choices out there for Sense replacement, but we both like Go Launcher and want to keep it around. Hoping we can find a solution so we can keep it...

Thanks,

Bill Anderson

Email the developer, maybe it's a problem with sense.

You might try going into settings, manage applications, and make sure cache and defaults are cleared on the default launcher. Check "System Persistent" in GO (under advanced).

I am having the same issue. I have been running Go Launcher for a couple months but changed to ADW Launcher EX this weekend. So far I like it better.

When I was using Go Launcher, testing Launcher Pro, and now using ADW, I still can not set my default. I check it everytime but it never keeps it as the default. I have tried Home Switcher and Home Manager and neither can set my default and keep it set. This is very frustrating having to hit default everytime I hit the home button.

Any suggestions?

Thanks to all who replied.

@pool_shark I have e-mailed the developer...so far no response
@tcat007 I tried checking the system persistent flag and it almost seemed to help for a little while, but the behavior has returned within a matter of minutes.
@okcbelair I commend you for putting up with the issue as long as you did. It's driving us nuts after only a week. My wife just switched back to Sense. I might try ADW and see how it looks.

Again, thanks to all who replied...any other ideas would be appreciated.

Cheers,

Bill

A couple of thoughts off the top of my head...
1. Make sure you are checking the 'make default' box first (Settings > Applications > Manage applications)
2. Is your phone rooted? If so, make sure you have proper permissions on the install folder (probably 755, in either /system/app or /data/app).

When I do look at the manage applications, go launcher is default. I then go about my business and the next time it happens I go look there and it is no longer have any default settings. Even if I select HTC since when it pops up, It still prompts me later.

My phone is not rooted.

If your rooted get yourself a ESfileexplorer and mount your system as writable, then go to the system>app> then find the rosie.apk and rename it to rosie.zip...

Tada your phone no longer recognizes the sense launcher... When ever you need to switch to stock just rename that rosie.zip back to rosie.apk...

Again you need root access without it you will not be able to manipulate these files...

If you need better instructions hit me back...

I have the same problem with my rooted stock nook color. Can you recommend a similar fix? Thanks.

Actually, I had this problem with QuickDesk, it won't stay selected. But I had five launchers installed then. I uninstalled the ones I didn't use anymore and rebooted, and voila, it stays selected. Do you have multiple launchers installed?
