Default Pure calendar widget [official topic]

Hi,

I am the Pure calendar developer.

If you have any problem or request, please, post here.
I'll be happy to help !

Summary

Pure calendar widget can show on your home screen all your Google calendar informations and even tasks from Astrid or gTasks.
From the widget, you can open official applications (Google calendar, Moto Corporate calendar, Astrid, gTasks), add events or tasks.
You have a lot of widget sizes available from 2x2 to 4x4.
It is fully skinnable to fit your Home screen design.

Nota 1 : tasks are synced RTM (Astrid) or Google tasks (gTasks)

do you think I should add a reminder management to pure calendar ? (with snooze time choice, configurable alarm repeat ...)

I do you prefer if I create a separated app for that ?

hi - i find it confusing that the time line marks are above the numbers rather than below. is that a Euro convention? in the US we normally have the date in the top of a calendar box.

i have alarms etc set thru the Google calendar i use, so i don't see a need to repeat that via the widget, altho i imagine that many users would enjoy it.

For timelines, it 'Pure GRID calendar' (I'll create another topic later since they are completly separated apps). But I agree with your remark, and I'll make it optionnal soon.

Thanks for your answer about reminder management.

Sync directly to RTM Android app without using Astrid as a mediator.

Id prefer a seperate app. With the standard cal and Astrid, I have plenty of notifications already.

Talking Please add various/multiple repetition entry options

Hello "Pure Calendar" Developer! PLEASE PLEASEadd a feature, if it isn't already on Pure Calendar (haven't purchased yet because haven't heard that it is), that allows me to easily enter events that have odd repetition, such as every two weeks or every three days, etc... PLEASE! I will pay (almost) ANYTHING for a calendar app that does this! Of course, without deleting any of the other features you already have, start time, end time, etc etc...

If I do that, people will ask an interface to fill information, and I don't want to redevelope everything Astrid as already done.
So ... I don't think that' it will be a good idea. If I well remember Astrid took many month to be developed.

I know, many people ask for this.
I tried ... and I failed.
May I'll give another chance to this feature during next weeks.

I agree with nertzie on the time interval thing. Hopefully you can get it to work.

Can you make it on Calendar Grid to scroll through the 30 day calendar without opening the calendar app, like on the Hero?

Good work, thanks!

For Pure grid scrolling, it already works !
Just tap the first or last cell...

But swipe control is impossible in stock Home.

It would be great to have the grid calendar (and/or the list calendar) able to open to a full screen when a single icon is pressed. I have a lot of icons on my Hero's various screens and, whilst I really like both calendar apps (grid widget is much better than the stock app), I sometimes wish I didn't have to fill a whole screen with the grid widget. I know that seems counterintuitive, as the widget is supposed to save you opening an app, but it functions better than the stock app and I'd like to keep it as an app, rather than a widget.

Does that make sense!?

Yes, I understand.
But I don't have time or envy to realize full apps (instead of widgets).
And I already know that if I start that kind of dev, people will ask for lot of more features (week view ... day view ...).

I've been using Pure Calendar for about three months now (Roughly). I absolutely love it, and I wouldn't be able to live without it at this point.

Outstanding work on the pure grid calendar as well!

Unhappy Launching app...

Regards

I'm a new Android user and a new Sprint HTC Hero owner...

...I like the style and functionality of your widget. I downloaded it to my Hero but I have not been able to launch the application.

Can you please help me out?

How do I launch it and how do I set it as the default calendar?

It says download was a success and that it is done. It shows the app (widget, shortcut) but every time and press on it to launch it takes me to the download screen info.

Also it is able to sync with the Google calendar?

Thanks for the help

Just add it to a screen as you would any other Android widget. Then go into the config options to set which calendars to use, the default calendar app etc.

I'm still not able to view multiple calendar tasks (my main gcal and "other" calendars) in the calendar pop up window when I selected a day in pure calendar grid. Other than that it works just dandy.

Unhappy Pure Calendar

I added it to one of the screens... so far so good... now if I press on it takes me to Pure C info.

Now... how to I go into the config options to set which calendars to use?

I went to settings . . .

. . . but got lost!

when you first put the widget on your screen you should have to go through the config and tell what calendars you want.

Hello nertzie,

If you want an odd timing like every fortnight (2 weeks) like pay days etc. You can put this in Google and have the repeat every 2 weeks. If Pure Calendar can sync with google, then this event should show.

Not the solution, but at least a work around... Cheers!

Not sure if the developer can do this, but would it be possible to sync the calendar with the contacts birthday/anniversaries etc?

I might be barking the wrong tree, I think google contacts dates like birthday, anniversaries, etc should automatically sync with google calendars.

You can do this in google. IN Google calendar you can add a calndar called Birtdays; which extracts the Bdays from your contacts and adds then to your calendar. Then of course they will also show up on android calendar.

I may be mistaken, but the Hero already has this built in to Sense UI.

Or you can use EBOBirthday which create a special calendar from your contact birthday dates. It will be synced and visible in Pure widgets.

The biggest issue is that it does not show all upcoming events. Anything beyond the current month will not show.

Yes you can, I already have my pay days on repeat every 2 weeks. Just click on the day you want, a balloon will pop-up and click "edit event details". Then choose weekly on the "repeats" drop-down menu. After selecting "weekly" an option will show how many weeks you want for an event to repeat, then select 2 weeks and mark the day (mon, tue, wed etc.) you want for that event to repeat. Then just click on save or continue on editing your event.

Hope this helps.

What about having Pure Grid Calendar Widget with an extra button on the top that lets you switch between calendar and agenda view?

I know you can click a date and see everything for that day, but why have separate widgets at all?

Keep cool, it was difficult to read messages during my holidays.

I don't have this problem.
I can see events up to 6 months.

Did you set the 'search period' ?
Are you sure your calendar is selected ?

For some reason, as of today, I can not set Sunday as the first day of the week. Furthermore, some of my events are off by one day. For example, I calendared something for tomorrow morning, Tuesday, March 16 on my google calendar on my pc. It is showing up on my phone in pure grid on today's calendar, Monday March 15, (which would be Tuesday if Sunday was showing up as the first day of the week....)

Edit: when I changed my settings to show Monday as the first day of the week, the appointment changed to the correct date. I really would like Sunday to be my first day however....

Been using Pure Calendar since I got my Droid on launch day. Love it

Just wondering, could you add a 1x4 option for a widget? Basically something that would only show that day's activities.
