Default Contact groups on phone

Hi all,

is there an app or something that will allow me to view the contacts that i have in set groups. I have a group for family and works and mates, is there a way to view a list of all my work contacts on my htc hero?

Also if possible i would like to be able to send a text to all the people in a certain group.

Any ideas? Cheers

JPLamb

The stock Contacts already does Groups, albeit poorly:
Menu -> Display Group -> (select "All" or some group) -> OK.
This lets you see all contacts from only a single group. You then do the same again to view all.

To send sms messages to all users in a group, you'll most likely need a 3rd-party app; I never use this but I can see that Handcent does it like this:
Handcent -> ("compose" icon in top-left) -> ("+" icon in "To:" bar) -> select tab "Group" -> select the group(s) you wish to message.

On the Hero, Menu > People > 3rd tab on the bottom is groups.

If you then long press on the group you want you can send email, sms etc to the whole group.

The Hero does not do this poorly and you do not need a 3rd party app for it.

Also, login to google on your PC and go to www.google.co.uk/contacts you can edit, create groups and contacts from there and they sync down to the phone.

I use this all the time in my business as I need to be able to send sms to my clients based on certain groups.
