I am dying for an app for the 2010 season. Most of the races I'll watch at home so it isn't that big an issue. However, I am going for the Singapore GP and it's impossible to keep track of what's going on if you don't have a Timings App.
No Android support is very disappointing. It's quite amusing though that Winmo, Blackberry and Symbian are getting live timing for free but it still costs £20 for the iPhone.

Bartek Teodorczyk mentioned a fix is approx 2-3 weeks, that is where the app is currently crashing.
With a bit of luck, once that's fixed, it will just work. However I am also aware that things may not always be that simple, and it may just move the app on to the next problem :-)
If you want this app native on Android, then make sure you visit the site on your handset and register your interest, as they won't make one if they don't think there is interest..
Also it will be more bragging rights that we get this stuff for free, iTurd owners have to pay $20 for it... :-)
I think you might be waiting a long time for the formula1.com app to come to Android. There is another app that should be ready by melbourne, they were testing it during bahrain with positive results.

Given Vodafone are sponsoring the app, and today they've announced 6 android devices coming this year, I doubt it'll be long before an official app.
You seem to have more faith than I do. It's taken years for them to get a J2ME version out. If I had the source, it would be trivial to port it using a J2ME bridge and have something ready for Melbourne. Vodaphone however, I'd be suprised if we see anything this season..
Thankfully there are at least 2 avenues to explore outside waiting for Vodaphone to get off their backsides...
The Following User Says Thank You to mgillespie For This Useful Post:
I asked the guys in the FIA for an android app and got the answer just yesterday: they don't intend to release any app for android.
Last time I checked the FIA has never been in the mobile software business. (I do know someone that actually works there)
Formula1.com is not the FIA and as shown above they are building an Android version
Maybe I said it wrong. I sent a mail to Formula 1? - The Official F1? Website requesting and showing my interest in a 2010 live timing app for android and I got an answer just yesterday:
Hi Javier,
Unfortunately, there is no Android version planned, as of now.
Regards,
F1 Support
This is the mail i got. I understand they are not going to launch an android app, do they?
With f1 Android, does anyone know how to enter formula1.com login details its says they can't be found and I need to go to the site to register. I already have an account and visiting from the app and logging in does nothing to fix the error

As I understand it the app will ask for your username/password when formula1.com start broadcasting the live times. I guess we will find out on Friday .
has anyone seen the iPhone app : F1 2010 Timing app - Championship Pass
It looks amazing and fully supported by F1 i believe.
Follow live races on a 3d track and Can watch past races of the season the same way. Saw this when i was demo a iPad at the apple store. Want this soo bad.
They need to bring this to android ASAP!!!
Pretty irritated that there's no official Android app yet, doubt there'll be one for this season which is ludicrous given how popular the platform is. Surely by now all "official" apps by organisations and companies should be available for Android as well as iPhone?
Bah. Still, the official mobile site looks good on my Desire, so it's not all bad.
It is out this week, very steep at £20 though (same as iPhone). I decided to have a look and get a refund but it is v-awsome and I ended up keeping it.
