Default how to get gmail NOT TO sync emails?

HI guys,
I know this sounds a little weird, but I want to have gmail sync only my contacts and calendars but not emails to sync.

I have tried to use both the gmail app and set up as Exchange, but I still keep getting emails coming thru to my gmail.

how do i stop this?
thanks

Depends on your phone. But most likely, go to settings, Account & Sync, Google, and then uncheck the Sync Gmail box, then just back out.

The option is available in the Settings. You can choose to auto sync or manually sync. If manually syncing, you have to click the refresh button manually any time you wish to sync..

Or just let it synch and turn off notifications for the gmail app... crude but less annoying..

Well if you dont want emails, don't use the gmail app. There are other apps on the market that specialize in Calendar and Contact syncing with Google.
