Default Unread Mail Notification Will Not Clear

Hope someone can help.

I have the native mail app on my HOX synced with my work exchange email. The app icon label constantly shows 2 unread emails when there are no unread emails. I have tried clearing the cache and deleting and reinstalling the account itself, but the problem returns.
Any suggestions?

Have tried a power off/on? I have to do that when my voicemail notifications gets stuck, even after clearing them.

I sorted it out. Was operator error, as usual. Had the Apex launcher set to show the unread email notification on the app, but the app I had selected was the native mail app rather than the Gmail app. So the 2 unread emails were from my Gmail account, not the Exchange account.
