Default Question about MMS opening images

This just started happening recently. When I tap an MMS image to open it in full-screen, it used to open with the Gallery viewer. Now it opens as if it's a video, with a play/pause, prev, and next button. I've tried resetting the file defaults, but I don't actually know what program is opening the images, so it hasn't accomplished anything. Anyone have any idea what's been changed?

(If this is the wrong category, just tell me)

At Settings, Apps, All, you might search picture viewers, video players (and even file manager) and reset them with Clear defaults

I have very few apps on my S3 (it's only a few weeks old), but I tried resetting anything picture/video related. No effect.

You might try the free app 'Save MMS' as work-around.
At least you'd be able to see the MMS's pictures

I can still see the images, I just lose the ability to zoom/pan. Here are a couple pictures to give a better idea of what I'm seeing.
