My phone also came with the Twitter and Facebook apps pre-installed. I don't use those either. My phone is not rooted so I just ignore those apps (and a couple others that can't be uninstalled). And yes that's using precious memory space. Unfortunately, shit happens...

it is using app space. it probably uses 1-2mb out of the 1000's of mb of app storage space the phone has. Don't worry about it. If you want, you can disable the app and remove it from the app drawer.
