Not trying to be a smartbutt or anything, but have you tried to figure out what is wrong with Skype on your device? That may be a more effective way to remedy your problem. Have you tried uninstalling/reinstalling Skype? If so, have you tried clearing the Skype App data and cache? And as a last resort, maybe a factory reset willl help. Of course, if you are rooted and running an alternative ROM, that may be the issue also. I'm not knocking rooting and alternative ROMs, because I do it on some of my devices, but, even though the devs try their best to create quality, compatable products, sometimes things don't work as expected on a non-stock ROM.
I say all the above because I use Skype from time to time on several different devices and have never had any issues with it, with the exception of slow connections and unless you can call up Al Gore to fix the internet you just have to live with that.
