Default android app alliterative for skype voice

Hi all,
The android skype client crashes frequently on my phone.

I found a few alternatives that where compatible, but are not any more, I found apps that connect with skype but not for free, and I found imo, that can only work for chat.

Are there any free alternative android apps that are compatible with skype voice?

Any help would be very appriciated...

Thank you in advance

I am not aware of any apps that are "compatible with Skype Voice", as you call it.
There are however alternative VoIP apps/systems for Skype. I'm sure members will be happy to let you know about their experiences with them. But it would be helpful if you can be more specific about what apps you DID try, and why they don't work for you.

Yes, I am aware that there are several VOIP apps, however, all my contacts use skype, so I am stuck with it.

What I am looking for is an app (other that the skype app) that allows you to login using your skype id, see your online skype contacts, chat and make VOIP calls to them.

Some of the applications i tried include IM+, Nimbuzz, Tru, and imo.

The three first applications used to have the above capabilities, but as I read online, they no longer have them due to disputes with skype. Imo still lets you log in with the skype account, but only chat is available, and no voice.

Thus, my question is if anyone is aware of an android app that still is capable of doing VOIP calls through skype.

I don't think there's anything compatible with Skype voice now, apart from the official Skype app. There used to be Fring, but Skype seems to have locked all the third-party VOIP clients out.

I use an app called Phone+ to do VOIP with a few friends, it's not compatible with Skype though. But it's free and seems to work very well. Phone+ is Chinese only though. phoneplus.langma.cn

Not trying to be a smartbutt or anything, but have you tried to figure out what is wrong with Skype on your device? That may be a more effective way to remedy your problem. Have you tried uninstalling/reinstalling Skype? If so, have you tried clearing the Skype App data and cache? And as a last resort, maybe a factory reset willl help. Of course, if you are rooted and running an alternative ROM, that may be the issue also. I'm not knocking rooting and alternative ROMs, because I do it on some of my devices, but, even though the devs try their best to create quality, compatable products, sometimes things don't work as expected on a non-stock ROM.

I say all the above because I use Skype from time to time on several different devices and have never had any issues with it, with the exception of slow connections and unless you can call up Al Gore to fix the internet you just have to live with that.
