Cloud printing is the only free solution for android?

I bought a new a printer... Wireless

my old hp crapped out but back 06 it was pretty advanced printing machine. It was connected to router and i could print from my laptop. So anyway this new wireless canon printer is handy .. I printed some test notes from my old iphone 3gs using airprint. And i couldn't find a way to print something from my n7 or gnex... The only solution is to buy app or use google cloud print. How does cloud printing works? Does it upload documents to my google docs and then sends to printer? What about document file itself? It saves itself on google cloud or disappears?

I use Cloud Print and the Google cloud print service with an old HP printer connected via USB to my computer. Works great.

I wish there was a way to print directly from a browser page like Chrome. The most frequent thing I print from my mobile device is coupons and I still have to save the link in Gmail and then open on a PC to print the page. I suppose I could do some sort of screen capture, save the file then navigate to the file to print but there should just be a short cut in the long-press > Share options for it.

you can print from a browser using cloud print.

You can on the ICS browser. Its menu>print

Correct. Just share the page to cloud print and you are set.

It's also on Chrome. I just had to reboot apparently because there was nothing there after I installed Cloud Print. Now, with Chrome on my phone, I click menu, then share and it's listed right there... Cloud Print. I did a convert on the fly to PDF and it sent the print command to my printer at home and when I got home my coupon was sitting on the printer. Perfect! This is exactly what I've been waiting for.
