Live GPS locations

Hey

I was trying out Google Latitude with a friend and it worked and we could se out positions and so on but when i for example closed the application on my phone it stoped updating my position to my friend until i opened the application, is there some way to make it update even if we are not in the application,m like backround or something? if no, is there any other application like that ?

Just leave Latitude running, go to the home page (longpress home button) and pick any other app to run. It should also still work when you kill your screen and stick the phone in your pocket. As long as Latitude is still running (and GPS of course).
But running a live track and trace system totally ruins your battery life!
