It looks like swiftkey is gonna add a swype like implementation to its keyboard. This quite literally makes my day as this is the only thing that could make me like swiftkey any better. what do ya'll think?

Hahahaha...I was just about to post this. Some people (myself included) prefer Swype while others prefer SwiftKey. Merge the two together and it will be the ultimate keyboard.
I got Swiftkey as an Amazon free app, and I can install it on my Nexus7, but it doesn't function. The free version works (it appears the paid version is no longer Amazon supported). I signed up for beta to see what happens. Love Swype.

I'm really looking forward to a usable Swype-like experience where I'm not forced to be a perpetual beta tester just for the privilege of using their product. Swype doesn't play nice with CoPilot, so I have to switch to SwiftKey while using CoPilot. Besides that, the last two updates to Swype ticked me off with issues that should never have made it to beta release.

So far, not really liking it. Lots of errors and fixing them is difficult. It doesn't give nearly as many options for replacement words as Swype does. Maybe it just needs to learn, so I'll keep using it for now.

Same for me too. I'm hoping it learns more, and quick, since I really can't stand swype for typing and I spend half my time typing and half sliding...
EDIT: I figured out the issue, at least for me. The beta is separate from the normal app so the beta doesn't have all the knowledge that the regular app does, since i've been using the regular app for months.

Ran into another issue. In one of my apps (OurGroceries), I cannot "flow" at all. I can type, but trying to use the flow capability does nothing. I'm sure the same problem will exist for other apps out there.

I'm reading in other threads that it doesn't flow in some places by design. If that's the case, I'm out. I'm not going to deal with trying to remember which apps can use flow and which ones can't. That's just stupid IMHO.
Flow doesn't work where predictions are already provided by the program they're running in, like in browsers' URLs, email addresses and search bars in general. The same happened in SwiftKey 3.

Well folks, it is Beta for a reason. If it bothers you too much, go back to your old manner of input and give it a little more time. They'll polish it up before releasing the true update in the Play store.
From the little I've played with it at this point it has awesome potential. The beauty of Swype with the prediction of Swiftkey ... wow!

Well the purpose of Beta testing is to provide feedback. Let them know you do not like it like this so they can change it. Just complaining here defeats the purpose of beta testing an app.
I like it so far, the predictions are pretty good and my Swype beta always lagged when i opened my messaging app to use it, and although it was maybe like 2-3 seconds, it always bugged me, flow pops up right away and is ready for use. I am going to keep it unless it really starts to irritate me, but hey, its a beta so let it be tested then wait for updates.
EDIT: To add as well, in the apps that do not use the Flow option, which for me i like because half the time in the play store some apps are named weird names and aren't recognized in the English Language, like UCCW, GasBuddy, etc, so i would just type them. Same with the browser, too many errors to Swipe.
They do need to add in a predictive text when it is switched off of the flow option though, because right now, and i understand it is in beta, there is no way to predict words you just have to get them right.

It does remember (predict) email addresses that start with a numeral (which Swype does not). I set up nick names in the android kb which also works well. Not working in main "texting" areas of a browser (like forums) is real issue for me; really surprised they let it out to beta without seeing that problem.
Good point ... which is why you give your feedback and they may (or may not) "fix" it.
I haven't had too many chances yet to test it out. Some of the previous comments suggest that certain text entry boxes won't have flow ... but they never had predictive either (search strings, user name/password entry, etc.) It also sounds like there are some areas where it should work but doesn't (standard text box on a web site, etc). I expect those will be fixed, given appropriate feedback (which you've provided).
I hope you didn't read my comment as being nasty. I just don't want people giving up on this program entirely while it's still in the Beta stage! There are too many people out there that will try it, decide that "there are too many bugs" and then bad-mouth until the end of time, without ever trying the official release!

Been waiting for this since the info was first released. I have been a die hard Swype fan but swiftkey has always been my first choice for a regular keyboard if swype wasn't available for certain phones Ive used. SK's predictions can almost be scary because it works so well. Once it learns your style it can damn near think for you.
With that being said, I am loving SK Flow. Obviously there is one or two things I dont like BUT there is a few features Im GLAD they implemented like holding back to delete whole words instead of 1 letter at a time like Swype beta. Although I would prefer the swype on the back button to delete as that was a cool function but I can live without it. There needs to be an option to turn off/on flow for URL and certain search functions. That's very annoying. I like the themes available, especially the default. It's very very clean. One thing I liked in Swype that SK Flow doesn't have is the use of the Swype key to do shortcuts like "swype + A" to select all and "Swype + V" to paste and so on. I got used to using these features and it cut down on a lot of time. I Hope something like this gets implemented in the future. I would rather have options there that I dont use then to not have them at all.
And the MAIN thing I really like about Flow is that you can swype whole sentences while NEVER lifting your finger. That is badass. Just swype to the spacebar and keep going. It works great as well.
It is a beta release BUT it's a very good beta release. We must voice our concerns about certain things to them so they can look at if for the main release. SK is a company that actually listens to the users to fix potential issues so I feel confident they will have a great product when the official version is released.
I feel that they have taken over as the leader in the swipe style keyboards.
Def some bugs to work out, but isn't that what beta is all about?
That's the part that drives me crazy tbh. It is a public beta, and it's slightly (and only slightly) harder than going to the play store to install, but there are gonna be some people that try it, don't like it because of bugs, and bash it from now till eternity, even though they were clearly using a beta product.

People will never be pleased, but I knew what I was in for when trying the beta, and for a beta its pretty good, no problems with it so far, and the no lift typing is to die for.

I think your best bet is to download it right from your phone (send a link by email or use your browser). It is a separate keyboard from Swiftkey so I am sure you won't need that as well.
