Sony "Media Remote" App Problem

Ok, here is one for you. I have a HTC EVO 3D smartphone running Android 4.0.3. and a Sony Network Media Player SMP-N200. The "Media Remote" application cannot find the SMP-N200 when searching for devices to register. I have them both working through Wi-Fi to a Linksys EA4500. The Wi-Fi connection is unprotected now. I set up MAC filtering instead to secure my network thinking that maybe the WEP or WPA was the problem. Any suggestion or advice would welcome?
