First of all it's not a hero keyboard. It's htc's keyboard which also comes with non-google branded phones. I have it on my magic with out having done any modifications whatsoever. But anyway, no, it's not redundant. The touchpal keyboard comes with things the htc keyboard does not. Read my earlier post. Basically everything I said I like the htc keyboard does not have as that is what I was comparing it to. This thing needs work but it could be really nice.

Hi Cootek,

Any news for the release of the app? Really like the app so far, just wish it can support Chinese input soon.

Thumbs down

They were nice enough to send me a beta of it, I have to say, I was disappointed It was just too slow for me. If you type quick, it's a word behind!

I like the compact qwerty, but then you lose the mistake correction, so that becomes slower to use too

French Canadian (QWERTY) keyboard would be nice, like on WinMo version.

Worked horrible for me - force close constantly even after I disabled it. Had to uninstall - shame because it looks like could be good

I've got the beta installed. It says something about it Not being signed. Perhaps it's because of my rom.

I also had difficulty installing it (because i had the beta also). once uninstalling the beta, and resetting the phone, i was able to install the public released version (1.0.0 i believe).

I did notice that the keyboard did not fit the entire width screen though. It was scaled small though, about 2/3 the size of the beta keyboard (that is to say it covered 2/3 of the width of the screen on the left hand side with the remaining 1/3 being a 'black' space. Also the keyboard was 2/3 as high as expected. All keys on the keyboard were visible, just small. I didn't have this issue with the beta keyboard.

The last I saw on the Cootech web site was that it would be some months now before he releases it for Android...seems like he has a OEM deal he is working on that is the cause of the delay.

So I wouldn't hold your breath (unless you can do so for a lot longer than I can).

Default On the market?

It's on the market, it's not on the market ... I'm confused. Several earlier posts, and CooTek's own web site, indicate that TouchPal should be on the Android market already. However, I can't find it there. CooTek, can you please clarify? Thanks...

Not there, won't be there evidently, from posts by the developer for "several months" (he said that in December).

I'm not waiting any more...Swype is my keyboard of choice. Search the board here for info...

Did the app resurface on the market as an official release?

I have this on my WinMo phone and LOVE it! My Incredible should be here on the 29th and was hoping to run this keyboard again since I'm so used to it.

Tbh, now I use Swype I just can't imagine not having it. Even if they charge $10, I'll be using Swype for sure.

I just Googled "TouchPal Android download" and got a link in like 2 seconds. I tried it out, and I definitely think it is the best "standard" keyboard. I think SwiftKey has the best word prediction and Swype has the fastest input, but if anyone wants just a normal keyboard this is really good.
