Sim and calendar not working!!

Hi all,

I recently got myself a new Android, first time having one so having 'fun' figuring it out!! The calendar worked for the first couple of days but now has stopped. I have tried loooooads of results people have posted on various sites but nothing has worked so far! My gmail will not sync and I can not select any calendars because there are none in the 'My Calendars' list! Any ideas?

Second problem, I did a factory data resist(as it was suggested somewhere to fix the calendar problem!), when I turned the phone back on my contacts had dissappeared(I put it in another phone and there still on it!), when I try to add a contact to the sim it says its 'initializing'! I can make phone calls from it!

Thinking I should have stuck to the simplier mobile now!!!!

Hi Lisa, and welcome to AF

I don't know what phone model you have, so details of the menus may differ. But try the following: go to the contacts list and bring up the menu. Look in import/export and there should be an option to import contacts from your SIM into the phonebook. Android assumes that your phonebook is on the phone rather than the SIM.

A factory reset erases all user apps, data and settings. Contacts are the data of the contacts app, so these will be erased from the phone.

As for the mail/calendar, are they working after the reset? Otherwise check the accounts and sync settings and check that these are set to sync. If not, if you can tell us what you have tried that will help us not to just repeat things you've already done

I have tried to import/export but the sim doesn't come up, just the SD card. I've taken it out, wiped it and put it back in, still nothing.

Calendar didn't work after the reset and sync is on. The calendar app that came with the phone doesn't work as it has 'no calendars'! I have tried, installing new calendars-none work, cleared all data from 'manage apps', forced stopped calendars, sync with gmail, selecting calendars from 'my calendars'-there are none!
