Default Looking for INLINE QR code reader app

While reading web pages or email on the Android phone, I occasionally encounter QR codes that I need to be able to decode inline somehow, such as starting an app that will allow me to pinch a screen section containing the code.

There are many apps that use the camera to scan, but I need to be able to read codes that are displayed on the device's screen, please.

Does anyone know of such an app? Ideally it would have a counterpart for iPhones, Android, etc. for different message recipients to read the same code.

Thanks, I have QR Droid installed and find it unable to meet my needs. The rather clumsy solution expressed in that thread was from 2-1/2 years ago. One assumes that given the plethora of bright Android minds these days that something better would exist now.

I agree with you. Perhaps there is an alternative web browser with a plugin architecture which can do what you suggest, e.g. Opera. I looked around a bit but didn't find an obvious solution.
