Default FB app doesn't add city to status updates

Hi guys. When I updated my status from the FB mobile app, it doesn't say "from <city>,<state>" like my friends' mobiles do. What's strange is it does it on my computer, and on my mobile, when I go to update my status, the city I am in appears in the bottom right corner of the text box like it should, but when I post the status it doesn't show up. What could be the issue?

I just noticed that yesterday. And I see no option for it in the settings either. I've yet to check the FB settings from my PC though as there may be a new mobile setting there.

Edit: Went there to check for the mobile settings and then noticed I removed my cell number from there awhile back. I kept getting weird charges on my cell phone bill, and odd text messages. As soon as I removed my cell number from my FB account I stopped getting those extra charges and weird text messages.

Not sure why they removed the location from the app though. Kind of annoying as I rather liked it.

There's other threads asking the same thing. I'm confident at this point that it was a FB decision to remove it.

I have been trying to figure this out for day's. I actually think it's a neat feature and should be an option to turn it on/off. I just don't get why it's gone. When you go to post a status it still shows the city you are in greyed out (as it always has) at the bottom right hand corner, but it will not post it.

You said: "It can't be done" in reply to the same question on my post. Is this official? Are you saying that facebook removed this feature in its entirety in the last update? Any idea why? I see multiple friend's post's still showing the location. I also run a group on facebook and when I post in that group from my phone inside the group timeline itself it shows "posted near dallas texas" so I don't think they done a way with the feature on purpose, I'm leaning more toward something unintentional possibly to be fixed on the next update. Let me know if you have any more feedback!

I don't use there stock app, but given the sheer number of posts of people asking this exact question (yours, this one, and others), and I haven't seen anyone yet provide a solution, it strikes me as the only logical conclusion to draw at this point.

I ran a search, and found that within about the last week, there are four threads created asking this question (which is a lot). I looked again, and found something that may help. Credit goes to wadster21 in this thread

Edit for credit

This does not work either. It basically essentially "checks you in to the city" almost as if you checked in at Wal-mart and just add's the text you put and from my experience only does this from the PC version of FB, not mobile or the app. Again, It appears that they have intentionally or unintentionally removed the "near city" feature in posts from the FB app in the last update.

This was my initial conclusion after seeing a large number if people ask about it, with no solutions offered.
