Arrow App to replace software keyboard

If you're like me, you find the new soft keyboard in Android 1.5 difficult to use and slow to type on. The keys are too small, the corrections suck, and the word predictions just aren't that great. It's nothing compared to the slick and intuitive keyboard on the iPhone.

Let's say there was a market app that replaces the keyboard with something much better. I'm talking something with high accuracy corrections and predictions, something that adapts to your typing style as you type, and has a fantastic UI for corrections and predictions. Let's say it increases your average typing speed by a factor of 2x.

Up to how much would you be willing to pay for the app?

I'm talking about something much better even than this, typing software, fast text entry - WordLogic Predictive Keyboard, which costs $24.95.

I believe I payed $12-15 for a modified soft-keyboard on my Wing. TouchPal is awesome for text entry and it looks like they are about to release it for the android.

If they keep even half the functionality from the WinMo version then the Android keyboard will be well worth looking at even for $10-15.

I would ask that there be a lite version available. Any sort of demo just to get a feel for how it works. Then I would happily pay 20 for something of that calibur. I use the HTC_IME atm, and it does the job nicely with the T9, but I do agree that the iPhone keyboard is superior; which may also be attributed to a larger screen.

from what I understand, you don't need an app to replace the keys on the keyboard. There are ones in the market (though very few) that are plugins/skins that can change the keyboard. Better Keyboard, i believe, is one of them.

I use and like Better Keyboard but with the newer App it will have better predictive capabilities ... while learning your common style of wording so suggested words are more accurate .. My SE 990i was so good at this .... if i happened to start a recent txt message it would repeat the words in sucession that i had previously used .. and just hitting space placed the next work in the txt msg .... it was wonderful to use ... hoping that the new app has as good a predictive engine as it was ...

Its words were context sensitive as well which was nicer than just pulling up an alpha list that is not context sensitive ... the SE 990i uses a model that understand common sentence structure and would suggest the most likey selections before others (not just alph ordered)

We will have the following improvement in our public release:
1. Support G1 hard keyboard input (and the soft keyboard won’t pop up)
2. New landscape mode with bigger keys
3. Support user-defined words
4. Haptic feedback (vibration mode)
5. Other bug fixes

P990i had also the better physical keyboard ever seen on a smartphone: you didn't have to rotate your device to write and, despite the small keys, was so easy for fast typing. I used to hope that the forthcoming SE android phone would mount that keyboard, or at least P1-like, but will not be so.
BTW, now I've just bought Better Keyboard and I feel it enough comfortable.

I just developed StrokeKeyboard - this is the same stroke input with Palm graffiti. You no longer search small software keyboard button on Android.
It's not free, but it costs about $2. It is available on Android Market.
