I'm having a problem with getting Facebook photos to upload to my wall. Instead they're just showing up in the Mobile Uploads section, without ever appearing in the news feed. I've searched everywhere online and found a few people with the same problem, but no solutions.

What's odd is I didn't have this problem when I tried the same thing yesterday. Yesterday was the first time I'd directly uploaded a photo from my phone to Facebook, though I've had my Droid for months. (Yeah, I'm a little slow with some of this stuff). I used the method of going to the Gallery, choosing my photo and then selecting Menu > Share > Facebook. I added a caption, and the photo & caption showed up on myFacebook wall, just the way I wanted.

Today I tried the same method for a new photo, and it didn't show up on my wall at all, just went straight to Mobile Uploads. As far as I can figure, I did everything exactly the same as I did it yesterday, but maybe I'm missing something. Can anyone think of a step I might have missed, or does anyone know a way to fix this?

Thanks so much in advance for the help. This is my first time posting here, though I've been reading the board for months, and you guys are incredibly helpful. I've found answers here for most of the 3 zillion questions I've had about the Droid, and if not for this board I'd probably have given up on my Droid after about 24 hours!

Unless the facebook folks recently changed something (you know they are always changing something) it works for me. Pics I upload to FB from my phone show up on my wall and in the mobile uploads album.

There are also multiple Facebook applications, so maybe you're using one that is not as good?
I forget which one I use, I think it might just be called "Facebook for Android" but I've never encountered that problem and I have uploaded about 12 pictures to Facebook since I've gotten my phone a month ago.
I also now use my Droid as a digital camera, because the quality is just about as good as a digital camera, and I lost my digital camera charger, and they're like $40 so why buy it, when I already have another digital camera. ;D

Thanks for the replies. I was afraid maybe other people might not have a solution for this, since it seems to be sort of random. It worked correctly for me the first time and the last time that I tried it (gave it another try last night after my original post), but it didn't work a bunch of times in between. So it seems to be just luck of the draw, and not based on anything I'm doing, as far as I can tell. Maybe others are just having better luck!

My problem is that the Moto Droid is recording my photos sideways and then uploading my photos via K9 email client sideways. So, I rotated the photo before the upload, and it still is sideways. Anyone have a thought?

catchingon, I was wondering and am having the same issue. But, its happening all the time. I'm using the facebook app that came on the Incredible. Should I download a different facebook app to resolve the same issue?

Recently I have noticed similar issue - picture uploads done with the Android application Facebook (v1.3.2) are not working as they had been. The photos are showing only on my wall and not in the main news feed, and so no one would know I have posted new pictures without going directly to my profile. I have not had problems with this before. I have even tried posting to different albums with the same result. I have an HTC Eris. Has any solution been found for this?

I am having this same problem. Mobile picture uploads and status updates from the the official Facebook for Android application (with latest update) do not show up on my friends' news feeds or mine. Pictures and updates simply post to my wall and not on news feeds. Other friends updates using this same application however are posting as I see them on my feed. I have not changed any privacy settings in the recent past and this only started to occur about a week ago. Any help you all can give would be greatly appreciated!

Thought I'd give this another shot to see if anyone might no a solution to this. I like using the official FB app, but this issue stinks. Anyone have some advice? I've checked my setting on the FB site. There seems to be no hinderance there.

acebel – I continue to be frustrated by this as well. It fails every time I have tried in the last week, though I think some have mentioned it was an intermittent problem. I am curious, have you tried uninstall/reinstall the FB application?

I have tried uninstalling the updates but since I'm on an unrooted EVO I am unable to uninstall the actual application. I have however cleared the stored data and cache. No luck there.

Have you tried from another Facebook application, perhaps like TweetDeck?

Yes, I've tried TweetDeck. I'm just not generally a fan of the layout. This problem started occuring about a week or so ago. Everything was perfect before then! haha.

Just curious if you had the same issue with Tweetdeck. At least that would tell you if the problem's on the app side, or the website.

Good thinking. Yes, TweetDeck performed properly and updated my status and mobile pictures on my (and friends') news feeds correctly just as if I were posting them from my computer.

There you go... It looks like an issue with the Facebook for Android app somehow.

I just wish Facebook would put the time and effort into their Android app like what they did with their iPhone app.

It is just weird because I see lots of my FB updating their status and pictures via this app and works fine for them. Makes me mad! haha. Thank you for your help and good ideas though. Another thing that sticks out that is no longer there is "Facebook for Android" is no longer listed under my applications on the Facebook site. I don't know how to add it! Any clues?

I checked the same on my application list and as you mentioned it is no longer there, maybe since they rolled out the new application management interface. I did see that I still have my phone's HTC Sense application listed and so I tested and confirmed that updates do work using it...not my preferred method and pics only.

Have you posted this info in the Facebook page you referenced earlier?

I have not, but the application still posts statuses (is that a word?!?!) and mobile pictures to my personal wall so I would assume compatibility to the mobile app is on my account.

What is the "touch site" - is that the same as m.facebook.com?

touch.facebook.com very similar to the mobile site. I don't know of any way to update pictures from there but it does update and post status updates properly.

Compatibility for uploads from the mobile app seem to be ok; it is the permission related to where the post appears that acts broken. We have been complaining that the updates and pics only appear on our wall rather than the main feed…maybe, as you pointed out, it is because Facebook for Android is no longer listed under our applications list and so the more specific permissions cannot be set/accessed. For example the permission set for the HTC Sense application in my settings shows configuration options for “Post to my Wall” and “Access posts in my News Feed”. With this application I can upload a pic and it properly posts to the news feed and my wall. This is just a guess based on what has been mentioned here in this forum.

Anyway, at this point is seems that there will not be resolution for this issue unless we can identify who to notify for fixing it. It’s now mentioned here and on the Facebook discussion board…who picks up the work to fix it now?

Yes, it is very disappointing that this issue persists even beyond the application being updated. I just wish FB would respond to an e-mail or mayble provide some customer support. I know they have a trillion things to deal with, but just some type of response would be nice.

Anyone else still having this problem? Or maybe a solution to this problem? I think that Facebook is not giving the Facebook for Android application permission to post to the news feed. Just a thought...

Mine was working fine until i clicked "remove post" on one of my mobile uploads on my mini feed. After that, they started going straight to my mobile uploads. I'm guessing it automatically changed a setting? I tried reinstalling facebook on my phone, but no luck. So I'm guessing the its a setting on the main server.

I am having a similar problem. I was able to post a pic right to my wall the first time. The next and all future times it went to my mobile uploads album. I tried my other FB acct and it posts directly to the wall. I tried my wifes phone with my FB acct and it wouldn't go to the wall! So it must be a settings issue through FB and not an issue with the phone! HELP FB...GET A PHONE # SO WE CAN CALL IN AND GET HEEEELLLLP!!!!!!!!

I am still having the issue posting to Facebook from my mobile where my posts only show on my wall and not on the main newsfeed. Recently I installed a new ROM and was hopeful it might start working again but it has not.

For some time I have worked around this issue by using TweetDeck for Facebook comments and for pictures I used the stock HTC Sense application (I don’t have HTC Sense on the newly installed ROM so now I have no workaround for pictures).

Here’s summary of what I have observed:

• Facebook for Android – All comments and pictures only show on my wall, never in the news feed.
• Facebook via mobile web browser – Comments show on my wall and in the news feed, but pictures not in the news feed.
• TweetDeck – I can post comments and it shows both on wall and in news feed. It’s not a good solution though for me for pictures because it just posts links to an external site.
• HTC Sense for Facebook – I was able to post pictures that appeared on my wall and in the news feed. I lost this app when I installed a new ROM that does not have HTC Sense included.
• Speedy Uploader – Tried this application as a replacement for the HTC Sense workaround, pictures show only on my wall, never in the news feed.

I have checked every security setting and configuration option both on the phone and on my Facebook online account with no luck. I would expect that if the issue was related to my Facebook online account settings that TweetDeck and HTC Sense would not have worked.

Any ideas?

This is finally resolved for me with the Facebook for Android application update v1.6.0.

I just resurrected this old thread after searching for a solution. There are many people who can post pic's directly to my newsfeed, and they are all on iphone. My pic's even when uploading to "all stories" only show up on my wall, not newsfeed. sux

I am having the same problem and the same thing happens with laptop upload. It started right around the time when facebook started the "timeline" thing, and now when I add image with comments it never shows up in feed at all unless I manually put the link on the "what's on your mind" window.

I just did one today, using the mobile app, but I haven't upgraded to the new Facebook yet. (Hearing to many problems.) It shows up on my wall and in recent news feeds.

I believe I have a fix everyone. Go here on your computer. https://m.facebook.com/upload.php?refid=7 Then upload an image from your computer. After that, it should be fixed. Give mobile uploading a try on your phone.

I encountered this same problem a few hours ago. Between then and now I came across this forum looking for a solution. I figured it out minutes after reading this thread so I felt like I made a big discovery and simply had to register to share this fix. I hope it works for you!

For those that have not encountered this issue, be wary when removing any mobile uploads of your own from your news feed.

well it happen to me i added in december timeline with a photo where it says born of my childhood and now it is missing from my timeline on facebook i wish they would fix that problem cause i do not know how to remove it cause it is blank and in the middle of my timeline wall

I am having this exact same issue but with an iPhone instead of android, sometimes mobile uploads go to my wall and other times to mobile uploads album. Facebook does not respond to requests for help on this, very frustrating.

i had this problem (mobile uploads not appearing on the wall and news feed but appears in the album) last night. hope this works for you too.

-uninstall the Facebook for Android app (i did this out of frustration)
-wait for a few hours (i slept for about 8 hours and re-installed the app when i woke up)
-log in
-try to upload an image

by the way, i started to have this problem when i uploaded an image from my phone and "removed" it from my wall after a few hours. the next images did not appear on the wall afterwards. so i think we should avoid removing mobile uploads to avoid problems. ^_^

I have friendcaster. Would have been better than the Facebook app if a lot of my friends did not deny third party access. So what I did was just turn off refresh and notifications for it, then use it just for uploading. It allows you to choose what album to upload to and supports multiple uploads at the same time.

i have the same problem... and though if you delet the mobile upload folder you can post 1 or 2 pictures and then after that magicaly.... a nother mobile upload folder appears . its not a solution but that is what i found yesterday .
