Default Remote server error

Hi
We have an A13-MID 4.0.4 android. We are having trouble downloading anything like Skype/Google +/music player. We keep getting an error connecting to the remote server.

I'm a novice android user so any help would be gratefully received.

Thanks
Helen

Hello Helen, welcome to Android Forums!

Are you talking about downloading these things from the Google Play store? If so, there are a couple of things you might want to try. First, take your tablet to a public WiFi area to see if you can download from there. We need to know if it's a problem with your home wifi network or a setting on the tablet. You should also check your router to make sure port 5226 is open, which is the port that the play store uses.

I am going to assume that the other network functions like email and internet are all working for you.

If you are trying to get apps from a different source, give us some of the details so we can take a look at it for you.

Thanks very much. How do I check the port on the router?

You have to log into the router and look at the firewall port settings. It will vary from model to model, but normally you can type the ip address of the router in your browsers address bar and log in using the admin credentials. You might need to check documentation for the specific instructions.
