Default Holo Notifier

I've been using Holo Launcher on my phone for awhile and enjoying it. Recently I installed the Holo notifier just to try something different. During setup it ask me to choose the apps to use to be notified, such as missed calls, sms texts etc.

I don't know what to choose to be notified. Like sms text am I to choose the text app, for missed calls do I choose the phone app?

Sorry to say but being an Android newbie, I'm lost. I have always used the stock notifier.

Thnx.

First of all you must have purchased Holo Launcher Plus for Holo Notifier to work. I presume you have because it states that you must in Google Play.

What Holo Notifier does is place an unread count on an icon of your choice for the relevent function. On the example below it is Phone & Messages.

So if you select Unread Gmail & you select the Gmail app it will place the unread count on the Gmail app icon on your home page or in the launcher dock. Quite logical really. Why would you want to do otherwise? Well what if you use a 3rd party app for say sms? You can select that App so that for instance the Handcent sms icon displays the unread count rather than having to use the stock Messages app icon.

The same goes for if you use a third party dialer like Go Contacts. You can select the Go Dialer icon to give you the unread count. If you really wanted to you could put your Gmail count on the Browser icon or any other.

If you use Holo Locker the Holo Notifier will place the unread counts on your lockscreen too.
