Default MP3 player in lock screen

Does anyone know how to enable controls for the default mp3 player (running android 4.1.1 jelly bean) in the lock screen? I don't want to use an alternative player if possible.

My audio book app is showing controls, so i guess it must be possible for other apps (maybe using a plugin) as well

What device are you saying? The Tab 2? On my Galaxy Tab Plus, you can still tap on the notification area on the bottom right on the lockscreen and it will pop out with the music controls.

No, doesn't work - can't pull the notifications out. But I think that's working as intended since I've locked my tablet through a PIN. Oh and yeah, it's indeed a Tab 2 7.0.

oh it has a PIN? Yup it wont work that way if you have a PIN.

I thought there might be a plugin or something alike - Mortplayer Audio Books, that's the name of the app I'm using for audio books, can place a widget on the lock screen without any issues.
