Default Editing Google Maps ... how long does it take for approval?

I have made some editing changes to Google Maps and have submitted them for approval. A private road was being shown as including my 1/4 mi. driveway, which I deleted from the road description. I'm rather tired of people following their map and coming up my driveway.

Do any of you have experience with making such changes, and if so how long did it take for approval and actual deletion from Google Maps?

Does Apple also have such an editing feature for their maps? I've never had anything whatsoever to do with Apple, so no account or anything there.

Put up a gate and large notice? PRIVATE, NO ENTRY, TRESPASSERS WILL BE SHOT.

Have you checked other digital mapping as well, like TomTom, Ovi, Bing, Garmin, Magellan, Navigon, Open Street Map, etc?

I had to do just that because Google had our street number placed about a half a mile away from where we actually are (in the country). Nobody could find us!

I contacted Google and they referred me to Teleatlas, which was the company responsible for our region of the map (in Europe) - you usually see the name of the responsible company in the lower right corner of the Google Map. I then contacted Teleatlas over their website, so i actually cannot give you the exact date I spoke to them cause I don't have an e-mail to verify, but can say it was quite a looooong time (maybe 8 months, or even longer) before the change appeared in Google maps.

In the e-mail I got from Teleatlas they said: "

Thanks! We were able to use your input to improve our maps. This update will go out in our next release of our map database. This report is now closed.
Tele Atlas supplies maps to the companies that make devices or applications, not directly to the people who use them. We update the map we supply so these companies can incorporate the map update in their own systems. When this process is complete, your change will be made available to you. It may be possible to purchase an updated map; please contact your device manufacturer or application provider for further information.
This means, you have to wait till your information is checked and the company sends Google their regular update and who knows how often that is. That can take a while.
