Basically I have some home recording software (BOSS BR) its old so i have no way of transferring it to my laptop / phone but....

Is there an app i can install that can record something being played through my actual phone... with the phone itself (samsung s3)

So

I play the song i want to record from my home audio device through my phone... whislt its playing on my phone... its also being recorded by the phone...

Im sure this is an app.. but wouldnt know what to look for...

Welcome to the forums. I use an app called "Tape-a-Talk". It turns your phone into a dictation device for recordings. I use it to record meeting, etc. The quality of the recording is really good too. You can save and transfer your recordings to other devices as well. They have a free and paid version. (I use the free version.) Check it out. (I just tested it out recording Pandora while playing thru my phone.)
