Anyone know of a chess app that would allow me to set up permutation puzzles? I'd like to be able to alter the size of the board (number of squares and/or the configuration of them) and customize the board 'characters' as in the '8 Queens' chess puzzle? There are quite a number of templates for clever chess problems involving a certain number of one particular piece, on a standard or customized checker board. The 7th Guest, my very first PC game (which I wish they'd move faster through Android tablet development) had quit a few cool chess piece puzzles, I also recall that American McGee's Alice had a few and I recently played an adventure/hidden object game that had a few of them in it. It would be a cool option variation to the typical chess app so if anyone knows of a current chess game app that allows this amount of customization please send me the link to the game to download/buy. I found a chess app called Mobialia Chess v4.3.1 which allows you to set up the board with any amount or type of pieces you want, you have to do some Googling to find some of the scenarios to set up and play out. It also has one of the best chess problem features I've ever found in a chess app. Also, in my search for a challenging alternative to traditional chess I have discovered "Solitaire Chess" and am enjoying it immensely! It's the ThinkFun app, very addictive with one hundred puzzles each in 4 different challenge levels from easy, medium, hard and expert on a 4 x 4, 16 square chess board. Both apps highly recommended for any level of chess enthusiast!
