Default Stock email app sync issue - solved

I've found a solution to the issue of the stock Mail app failing to sync accounts. It seems to be quite an issue for those using Jelly Bean as I now am after an upgrade to an HTC One X+.

The solution is remarkably simple, although there is obviously a problem with Android and its interactivity between the Mail app and the Android sync function.

If like me, and I assume most other users, you have created your email account from the stock Mail app then this is where the problem starts. I noticed that after doing this and trying to work out what was going on, that the Mail icon was missing from the list of accounts in 'Accounts & sync'. So I tried to create my email account from there but was stopped because the account already existed.

So, you need to go back into the Mail app and delete your account/s from there and then delete any icons or widgets you placed on home screens for Mail. Then return to Accounts & sync.
Settings>Accounts & sync>+Add
This allows you to set up your email account details, username, password, server details etc... as you did in the Mail app. After doing this you should see the Mail icon listed under the 'Accounts & sync' page under Manage accounts.

Now go back to the stock Mail app and set up the other 'settings' from there such as download frequency and times etc. Once done you can then re add any icons or widgets to home screens.

I appreciate that not all phones are set up the same and that a solution for one phone isn't always a solution for another, but hopefully this workaround will help someone else.
