Maybe I'm overthinking this, but here goes:
TL;DR I need an outgoing dialer app that uses the data connection to place outgoing calls as Google Voice callbacks.
I'm running CM10 on a ASUS TF701 Transformer.
I originally bought GrooveIP
and thought "well, that's sorted," but couldn't overcome the poor call quality.
Next I saw this deal
for 50% off Skype credit on Slickdeals and used Guerrillamail
to stock up.
I bought and set up a Skype number to be one of my GV phones (another being a cheap PagePlus
flip phone.) Incoming calls work perfectly.
I can also use the Google Voice app to place calls to my contacts that ring back on Skype.
What I can't do is dial numbers, since there is no native telephony (therefore no Dialer app.) I've tried several of the alt dialers in the Market unsuccessfully.
I don't want to dial out using Skype because I want my GV number to show on Caller ID. I don't want to use Skype to dial my GV #, then #2, then the number I'm calling because I'm too lazy to do all that pressing.
All I need is an app that allows me to dial a number then feeds it to GV so that I receive a callback on Skype. Any ideas?
EDIT: Ok. Overlooked this
, but it isn't elegant. Still rather have a dialer.
EDIT: Tried this
. Didn't work.
EDIT: SOLVED! Answer is to set up GV# as Skype Caller ID
then just use Skype dialer.
