Thanks for responses, with regards to my concerns although no expert, I have a general idea of how SSL works and I am dependent upon it for financial transactions and certain email communications. I have read that Android SSL is not always easy for an end user to select/implement. I have also read that due to it's Linux/Java based open architecture, installation of a wide variety of apps is possible but on a "use at your own risk" basis and that it may take a level of sophistication that I don't have to set up the phone such that I can restrict what an app can and cannot do.
