Default Copy.com file storage (similar to google drive / box etc)

Hi! I read an article about copy.com today on androidandme today, and thought I'd share with the community.
I had never heard of this before, and looks like they've been around a while.

For me, Online cloud storage is always welcome (personally, I avoid storing sensitive information on the cloud).

Copy gives out 15GB to start with (if you use a referral link from anyone to sign up, you get 20GB to start off with). Like Dropbox, it does give you referral bonus - if other users sign up with your referral link, you (and the other person) gets 5GB extra (significantly higher than what dropbox offers for referrals)

I downloaded their app onto my Sprint Nexus - seems pretty well designed, and has quick uploads (so far)

Unlimited file size uploads (woohoo!)
Unlimited free storage earning capabilities

No, I don't work for that company - just thought I'd share this with you.

Mods: I hope it is ok to share my referral link here - if not, I'll be happy to remove it. (reporting myself to the mods just in case)

This is my referral link - and if you sign up using this link, you and I get an extra 5GB. https://copy.com?r=SqBfsU
If you choose to use this URL, you'll need to sign up, and download/install the app onto your device (or computer) to get the additional 5GB.

Thanks!

Just wanted to provide a status update on this service.

I've been using it for about a couple of weeks, and use it primarily on my phone. So far, it has been pretty impressive. I tried their desktop app, and that is a little slow compared to dropbox (which I think is the standard out there).

I recently noticed that copy has auto-upload of pictures/videos on their android app (not sure if it was there from day 1) but it works pretty good! Uploads are fairly quick, and it doesn't seem to downsize the pictures.

The best part is that it allows large files to be uploaded - so I can back up my nandroid backups

It doesn't currently offer streaming of music and video - but hopefully, they will add it soon. The developer team does seem to be responding actively to reviews on the play store...
Hopefully, this will continue to develop into a good alternative to dropbox.

The only problem I have had is with medium sized files (20-50mb) and folder names.

I uploaded two medium size files. Tried to move them to another folder. Couldn't do it successfully.

I renamed a few folders. The names I ended up giving them were invalid names. So, I went back to the original names. Some how both folders existed with duplicated content (the invalid folder name was changed slightly). So, I went to delete one of the two folders and the storage graph appears to think I still have those files even though the folder can no longer be seen.

Other than that, it does update files quickly and has a nice interface.

Thanks - that's good to know. While I uploaded rather large files (nandroids), I didn't really try to move them around yet. I will try it out later tonight.

I would recommend reporting it to the developers on the play store - they seem to be responding to constructive reviews there
