Default Need app to make everything larger on the screen

Guys, are there any apps that will make everything larger on the screen in Android?

I have found something that makes the fonts bigger but what about the rest of the stuff including icons, address book and so on?

Are there any options?

My eyes have gone to hell and I need to be able to see the stuff on the
screen.

IF I have a choice, should I go android or windows and why should I chose one over the other?

Thanks

George

Umm. ... couldn't you just zoom? That is pretty much what that does makes everything bigger on the screen.

So, android or windows?

ricnar, let me know if it works for you and by all means, post some screen shots or put the phone on a scanner and take some pics. I'd really like to see what it looks like.

Font Size seems to apply only to fonts (as per the name).

I'm pretty certain there is no way to uniformly scale up everything.
Although, with a custom rom, you probably could hack Android to report different DisplayMetrics and thereby trick the graphics to render bigger. It'd be a lot of work for that one feature/setting, and it'd probably break a lot of stuff, UI-wise.

Well, they apparently have this thing in Windows called zoomer that apparently does just that.

Scroll down to post 5 and 7 Need an app developed for the T9193? Anyone interested? - xda-developers

You know, if people got their shit together and stopped competing and we could stick with ONE good platform, maybe this would be taken care of

You can make icons double sized, for non-rooted phones by using bigger icons widget. In the market. It lags, but I guess it really depends on how much you really want it done if it's worth the trouble or not.

So, what the hell is a rooted phone?

Would that be something bought from the souvenir shop at this place?

Keep me posted and let me know how it goes and I'll do the same 'cause my phone is finally on order from Negri Electronics and I chose this one..

HTC Desire A8183 Android 2.1 850 US/NA 3G (Unlocked)

Also, I plan on integrating it with google by putting my contacts on google and using google phone number (new thing they just started).

No idea Poldie, I don't have the phone yet. Was trying to figure out what my options were BEFORE I bought it but I guess I'll find out as it's coming tomorrow.
