Default Wifi mediaserver drag-drop to HTC Desire?

Hi folks-

At home we have a Western Digital external harddrive acting as a mediaserver (Z. I can see it with a Toshiba netbook running Windows 7 under 'my computer' just fine, and drap-and-drop mp3s/avis from the mediaserver to the netbook orany other PC just fine.

I'd like to be able to do this with my HTC Desire (Android 2.1) too. Is there an app or quick-fix for that?

I've found a number of apps that would let me stream media files from the phone to another device via wifi. And at least one to let me stream media from the mediaserver to the phone. But what I want to do is

1. Get up, grab phone
2. Open application
3. See mediaserver, drag-and-drop media files onto phone for the day's commute
4. I do not want to have to turn on another computer at home or plug the phone in anywhere to do this--I just want to grab the phone and do it over the wifi network as easily as if it were the netbook.

At the moment I things are set up that I can clumsily see it with the browser and download one file at a time, but I'd rather copy a whole album to the phone with a minimum of clicks.

apologies in advance if I'm missing something blindingly obvious in a popular file manager or if my forum-search-fu has failed me.

Thanks!

No app for this? No work-around? No one else interested?

I use AndFTP for exactly that from my NAS, free and lets you multi select files and folders, and pull them all at once.
Does your drive have an FTP server? Some of the WD do so worth checking.
