Android ApplicationsAll the information you could ever want about Android Applications. Learn about apps and get help with them... all here! New apps can be found and announced in the Applications Announcements forum linked below.
I just sold my iphone today! I'm replacing it with the htc desire which looks very promising, it's out of stock everywhere around here now though-_-
I've never used android before, so I was hoping for some of you to help me find android apps that are similar to the ones I used the most on my iphone.
The 3 I used the very most was these:
'1Password'
An app with one master password to access all the passwords you have everywhere on the web and other places. REALLY handy!
'HomeBudget'
An app that keeps track of all your income, expenses, savings etc.
I used that one quite a lot as I'm working on getting rid of some loan and stuff.
'GymGoals'
Basically a workout diary that shows your progress of reps, sets, weights etc. Very motivating as you can see how much you lifted last time so you could push yourself to take that one extra rep. Also a lot of other goodies in it!
I guess apps like twitter and facebook should be pretty easy to find by myself.
Also, if you have an useful app that you think I should check out when I get my android phone, please tell me about it!
I really can't wait to start getting to know android.
I can't say I know much about those apps you mentioned as I've never had the need for anything like them, but just thought I'd let you know that twitter and facebook apps are actually built into the phone already, part of HTC Sense I think.
For budget / expenses app you could try mint.com personal finance. You need to create an account on mint.com, which will import all your bank statements, loans, credit cards etc and show you your spending in various formats. I use it and I like it very much, but this is the first personal finance application that I've ever used so can't tell how good this app is compared to other options.
I bought the desire today. Very happy with it so far! I've just scratched the surface of it now though. I love how fast it is, and how open it feels compared to the iphone, hehe.
I sent an email to the guy who made gymgoal asking if he had any plans for android and got this reply:
I would like to make a Android version, but this is not realistic at the moment. GymGoal is pretty complex. I will try starting the Android version in a month or so, but it will take several months before the first Android version will be finished, and it will be much simpler than the iPhone version.
So that's pretty cool. Wanted to ask 1Password too, but I couldn't fine any contact info :/ It should be something similar on android though. It's a pretty simple app, but very handy
I'll check out the budget apps soon. Just have to get to know this phone a little better first, thanks guys!
Any luck finding something comparable to HomeBudget? Mint.com won't work with my banks and credit cards, and the only thing I miss about the iphone is HomeBudget!
You can try OpenHome apps for android. It functions as a replacement for the default home screen, into which you can load customs skins, icon packs, and fonts — many of which are freely available in the Market and created by other users. Plus, it is free. You can download it anytime.
It also has the incredible feature of not being related to anything in this thread whatsoever. Amazing!

A good place to start would be the sticky thread here. Or just search the market for "fitness", "wallet", or "finances". Hint: while the number of stars an app has is a good guide, also check the number of votes it has. An app with 4.5 stars after 40,000 votes is a better bet than one with 5 stars and only 50 votes.
There are loads of password manager apps out there, i use Pocket which works well for me, is free (though there's a paid version to remove ads) and has dropbox backup capability.
Best fitness app by miles IMO is cardio trainer. Dunno how well it deals with weightlifting etc, but there are loads out there on the market.

Try out JEFIT (or JEFIT PRO [paid version]). That's what I use and I think it's awesome. You can create an account online too and track your progress on your app AND the website.
[Try Password Safe Lite. I downloaded it a few weeks ago and I love it.
