I have searched all over the internet, but I couldnt find any app that allows me to sync my Lotus Notes calender with my HTC Magic.
All I have found are applications that sync Lotus Notes over Google Calender. I DO NOT WANT THIS . It's serious company security guidline offense, and I sure as hell do not want my corporate data to be uploaded to a 3rd party server.
I cannot believe that there is no app. ( now when the 2nd generation Android phones are starting to emerge) that can sync via USB, without resorting to Google Calendar. This is a serious issue for me, and I am sure for other business users aswell, that do not want their company data to be uploaded to Google.
I am very well aware that Lotus/Domino is not as popular as Outlook/Exchange, but alas, I have no choice, since it's my companies messaging platform of choice. Am I missing out on something? Can anyone point me towards an app that I have perhaps omitted?
Grok,
I am in exactly the same situation. At first, I used iPhone for a good 2 years, trying different ways to sync lotus notes, but to no avail. I was hoping that since Android is open someone would've developed an application for this, but it doesn't seem to be the case.
I just need a robust, old-fashioned USB sync that does calendar, todos and contacts (i don't need email). How difficult can that be? I would be quite happy to pay up to 50 dollars for the right app, but just can't find it.
I tried CompanionLink for iPhone, and its the worst piece of crap imaginable.
I've finally settled on an entry-level Blackberry (without the BES Connection), as I can atleast get my calendar on it. The itch for a nicer OS (read Android) that supports Lotus Notes sync remains.
I am also held captive by corporate dictates. We use Lotus, and I just better get used to it. It sure would be nice to be able to sync my calendar, to-do and contacts directly to my G1. USB to USB, not upload to third party server for anyone to access.
How bout it developers? I would be willing to pay for an application that would fill my needs.
I have used mnotes from commontime with my palm phone for almost 2 years. I just checked their website at CommonTime : Home of market leading wireless mobility solutions and they have a version of the product for android. All I can say is that they are lotus notes people as I have never had a product that synchronized so well. I plan on getting this for my next phone which will be android.
CommonTime has now added support for Android devices to its individual user product mNotes Wireless(mSuite it for corporates really).
I would definately recommend a free trial to see how it would work for you. It is a really good product for Lotus Notes and does give the best functionality around. It would be interesting to get feedback on if it give you everything you are looking for. I work for CommonTime and the feedback we have from iPhone and Pre users has been good, but it would be great to hear from Android users too!
HollyHayley,
Yup, seen that, the application seems to have come online in the last few days. Installing it now, had some issues. Contacted CT support who reponded VERY quickly saying it will only work from Notes version 7.02 (I had 7.0 so installing upgrade now).
Will report back - has anyone got this working successfully yet ?
ScotPjotr
We obviously have had it running here successfully on Android and people have been downloading and activating OK since Monday, when it was released, but of course difficult to know how many of those are Android users as the latest release also added iPhone and Palm Pre...

You could be the very first !
I also have exactly the same issue. My corporate email and calendar is on lotus notes (version 6.5). No interface is allowed.
My solution:
1. I was able to export my calendar entries from Lotus Notes into an ical file, using a tool called ICalendar, available from the Notes website (made up by David Gurney).
2. Each calendar entry is exported to a separate file, which is then imported into my Google Calendar (using the import calendar functionality).
3. After my Google Calendar is changed, my phone synchs automatically.
YES !
Installed Notes 7.03 yesterday. Already had mNotes wireless installed before, and as soon as I relaunched Notes it kicked into action ! Within minutes all my calendar items, mail and contacts had been sync'ed, just as I was used to on Windows Mobile (sorry for using those words on this forum).
/me is very happy now (untill the free trial period ends at last).
Wave Global are due to release an app called MyLink that does just that. It lets you synchronize mail, contacts, calendar, to do etc… wirelessly or over USB. I've been beta testing for a while now, should be out sometime soon. There is a Lotus Notes version too for people who are that way inclined :P

ScotPjotr Glad you got this up and running and it is working out for you! Good news is that by the time your free trial is up the price for mNotes Wireless will be reduced significantly - I will let you know as soon as it is all official .
I just downloaded Touchdown with Exchange Activesync, and was able to connect to our Lotus Traveler 8.5.1 server. I can get my email, calendar, and contacts. You have to view everything in the app though, it doesn't integrate into the built-in Android apps.

It also doesn't allow you to do lookups on the corporate directory (GAL).
In addition to that, most emails don't get properly rendered as HTML (at least for me).
Finally, the most annoying is that when the email can't be rendered as HTML like most the emails I get, the URLs and phone numbers are not clickable.
I'm waiting for mNotes to work with the native EAS on the Droid (should happen next week) to see if that works.
As far as I know Droid fix is on track for this week so hope that helps you out borderless. Anyone with HTC Hero should be able to download a free trial and get it working now though. Will keep you updated on the fixes for Droid and other devices as they come along.

The Seven client for Android w/ Seven for Workplaces on the desktop (server) seems to work pretty good for pushing email, contacts, etc to the phone. You can register for the beta at SEVEN Beta Program.
Hi JT3 - latest I have is will be fixed this week. As soon as I can be more specific I will be. I know the waiting is frustrating, but as with every new phone th Android OS is slightly different, it requires a load of fixes and full testing before we can be sure the solution is right. Don't want to put something out their that is a half fix. Taking a bit longer than expected I think so apologies for that and will post more news as soon as I know - which I hope to be very soon!
Uh oh - I just saw something mentioned above that mNotes wireless require Notes version 7.0.2? That's bad news for me - we use 7.0.1! And I have no control over when we will be upgrading to a newer version.
Crap. This wait for the new version of mNotes wireless may just be in vain...
Can anyone else (or Holly) confirm that this is true?

Hi Jeff - what a different a 0.0.1 makes...I am afraid the Exchange Active Sync device support- which obviously included Android - is only compatible wih 7.0.2. So sorry to be the bearer of bad news there! I will try and find out what the implications of trying to use with 7.0.1 are as it may be there is a work around or it hasn't been tested, but it is pretty set in the documentation for 7.0.2 so there must be a reason for that. Fingers crossed you can upgrade soon!

Actually i found out we are upgrading to 8.5 by the end of the year - hopefully that is compatible?
Is the Droid supposed to sync Calendars or not? I'm only getting mail, and not even an option to sync Calendars.
Also, although the mNotes monitor supports multiple mail accounts and calendars (which I DESPERATELY desire), It's unclear how to set that up on the Android side of things. Any help there?

It describes how I set up my Droid with mNotes. It also describes the calendar sync. (Your calendar sync option won't appear until you have entered the Corporate Calendar app. Once you do - the calendar will sync as you watch. The sync option will also be available in the Accounts and Sync entry when you go back to it)...
Can't help with multiple email accounts. Not sure how to do that.
Thanks. Bizarre but true! Not at work right now so not seeing any events yet but at least that enabled the option.
I don't think multiple e-mail /calendar is really setup entirely how I need it to be necessarily, but I will see (two email accounts, both with different Notes IDs). Looks like it was syncing to one or the other but not both simultaneously, depending on where Notes was logged in to as primary location.

Hi dshay
As the other posts say, calendar sync is possible. It is strange that it is not even giving you an option. I think it would be worth opening a support ticket for this so our team are aware of the issue. It may be a simple settings issue, that the Support Team can deal with quickly, but if there is a bug of any kind R&D will want to know asap.
Click here to go to the Support section of our site and log in to the Members Portal (or create an account) and open a support case / ticket. Someone will be in touch soon.
Just wanted to report back that I finally got mNotes working on my Droid. It was a combo on notes.ini issues and address book problems but support was excellent in diagnosing. It's working great!
