At this point I would take any of the stuff from the iPhone market place. The android market is still pretty dull. The saving grace is the emulators but even that doesn't always do it. I can only show my friends so many times Sonic the Hedge Hog on my phone before they are asking what else can you do with it? The market is prime for a developers to strike with a great set of games.

Totally agree. Especially since android phones are generally more powerful than iphones, and the fact that we're starting to see more advanced smartphones released now.

Exo-Planet

Absolute Favorite game on the iOS EVER. And its an MMO to boot. Great concept well executed especially for touch controls.

I'm gonna go beg the makers to port it to the Android X D

Colorbind. It's an excellent mind-bending puzzle game. What's more, it's quite a small game so should shouldn't be too much effort to port or to write a clone.

Ummm, technically the Galaxy S series is the only one that can compete or exceed the iPhone4 at this point. HTC devices need not apply. I say this as an owner of an iPhone4, Captivate, and HTC HD2 running NAND Android.

I'd like all the stuff Square Enix has released... they just launched crystal defenders on Android. I am hoping it sells well. It is almost certainly their test run to see if it would be worth delving deeper into Android game sales. I would also like to see the Diner Dash series. interestingly there is a DD2 on Android, which isn't available on iOS, however iOS has other great ones like wedding dash, hotel dash, etc.

I am almost certain that we would get companies putting beefier GPUs into their phones if it was desired/profitable. Problem is, for it to be profitable, there needs to be a demand, For there to be a demand there needs to be games that people want. When we see Android start using gpu acceleration to render its GUI, I am sure we will see phones from all makers be able to compete.

As of right now that is true in terms of gaming (Hummingbird GPU is very similar and slightly exceeds the A4). But in terms of overall productivity, the current generation (DHD, myTouch 4G, G2, Evo Shift, Liquid Metal, etc) of Qualcomm chips are superior to Hummingbird/A4 (according to Smartbench among other tests).

Once Tegra 2 comes out, it will probably be a different story.

I think what the poster meant to say is that the potential for Android phones is greater than that of the iPhone because there are so many manufacturers who make Android devices (ie. Samsung releases a chip, TI releases a chip better than that, Qualcomm releases a chip better than that, Nvdia releases a chip better than that, Samsung releases a chip better than that and the cycle keeps continuing througout the year with possibly other chip manufacturers coming into the picture). While all Apple is going to get is one chip per year, you will see Android devices sporting all those processors.

$8 for a generic tower defense game with really low res graphics? I'm excited for Square Enix to come to Android too, but not excited enough to throw $8 away carelessly.

Diner Dash 2 demo was fun (for the 30 seconds they allow you to play). I'm considering the full version.

Perhaps you misunderstood me. I am not necessarily excited for the tower defense game, but moreso that SE is actually on the market. This gives us more hope to see their other games as well...

There was also a game on my iPhone, don't quite remember the name, I think it was "Battlefield" or something like that. You essentially had to set up turrets of various abilities to mow down the assaulting armed forces. That was great fun and a nice quick game to pick up whenever I had a few minutes to kill.

In a pure CPU or GPU test the Hummingbird and PowerVR SGX540 is king. The reason Galaxy S does so poorly on benchmarks like Quadrant is because its heavily influenced by file read\write speed.

Isn't Plant vs. Zombies already on Android? I think I downloaded that somewhere in the internet then I uninstalled it 'cause I don't know how to play the thing in the first place. lol

A more updated version of PocketGod, Cooking Mama, GF All-Stars, and some random arcade games that are high quality is going to be awesome.

The version of Plants vs Zombies on the market is a rip off of PopCap's version and not a very good one.

Were all still waiting for the real version to hit the market.

To be more accurate, at 1GHz, Hummingbird is the king as far as OpenGL is concerned but for productivity tasks, Qualcomm MSM8x55 produces slightly higher result for the Smartbench app. And Smartbench isn't as heavily influenced by file I/O results.

Its not the CPU thats faster it's just the storage is much faster. Samsung used shitty flash in combination with a slow file system.

I'm running a custom ROM with Voodoo and EXT4 as the file system and I get double what I got in Quadrant before I modified my phone.

Two games,
Towers Trap, which is the best tower defense game. Hands down. I'd love to see this on Android, but the developers said that it's not possible, at least not in the near future.

I'd also love to see SPiN, which was earlier known as SiL on s60 devices. AMAZING GAME AND I CAN'T WAIT FOR A PORT.
