My game Hamster Climb is out on the Android Market free of charge!
In the game you help a hamster reach the skies by jumping on falling postal cargo. You control the hamster either by using the touch screen or by tilting the phone.
Different kind of falling objects that gets harder and harder the higher you get will keep you challenged when you fight for your place on the online (or phone local) high scores!
Features:
Tilt and Touch controls
Phone and Online High Scores
Install to SD card
Supports small screens
New version out!
* New high scores system with World Wide, National and Weekly lists separated by tilt and touch controls.
* Lots of bug fixes.
* Less permissions used.
Thank you. I'm actually working on tilt controls by popular request. I'm also going to reset the online high scores in the next update. At the moment it's full of scores me and my friends got during testing. But I challenge anyone to beat our scores and get into the list before the update. If anyone does that person will get an honorable mention in the app description on the market in the change log text. ;-)
Upcoming changes:
* Tilt controls
* Online High Scores reset
* Polish to make the game increase in difficulty more linear.
I just uploaded version 0.4 to the Android Market!
New in this version:
* More linear difficulty increase
* Support for small screens! (might look weird on the small screens tho)
* Support for installing to SD cards!
* (Hopefully) better physics at low frame rates.
If you encounter any problems with the game please leave a comment on the "Report problems" page at the Hamster Climb site: link
Is anyone experiencing problems with the game? Can you guys with Android 1.5 phones see the game / new version on the market?
All feedback is welcome.
I'm now working on a custom high scores system that will fit the game much better and make sure scores that are sent to the online high scores wont get lost because some server is down.
10 000 downloads! Thanks everyone out there for downloading my game.
I'm currently working on the next version which will, as I've said, include a new high scores system. The new high score system will save scores locally on the phone as well as online. Players will be able to look at online top lists of the best scores globally, nationally, daily and monthly. All of the lists will be separated by the controls used when playing so that there’s a list each for tilt and touch controls. The game will also keep track of scores that are sent to the server so that none are lost on the way under any network situation.
I really hope you like the game and if you have any suggestions or problems just respond here and I will do whatever I can to fix it.
The new High Scores system is starting to work really well now. It's custom made for the game to "fit in" more than ScoreNinja ever can and it's gonna be awesome! It's going into beta testing in the coming days and when it seems it works well on all tested phones version 0.5 will pop up on the market soon after.
Today Hamster Climb reached more than 50 000 downloads! I never imagined my game would be able to get this many downloads. I'm just a student doing this on my free time. Thank you all for downloading, playing, giving feedback, sharing and talking about the game!
On another note, I have some nice improvements under development that WILL be released when they're finished. I'm just having more unexpected trouble than I expected (...) with implementing the new high scores system.
I just released version 0.5 Hamster Climb on the Android Market!
Change log
New high scores system with World Wide, National and Weekly lists separated by tilt and touch controls.
Fixed a bug where the time could go backwards causing the hamster to appear below it's previous position.
Removed old code for keeping the screen lit while playing with tilt controls that sometimes resulted in crashes.
Pressing the back button while playing will now show a "Really Quit?" dialog instead of leaving the game immediately. Pressing "No" will pause the game and let the player resume at any time.
The menu button can now be pressed to pause the game.
Added credits.
Less permissions.
Lots of other small fixes.
Please report any bugs you find as a comment to this post, a comment at the "Report problems" page or as a mail to my gmail address "baskus".
I hope you enjoy the new high scores system! Try to beat my score (I'm baskus), compete with your friends, be the best in your country or even try to beat the world record!
It is a fun game, but i am afraid you are going to need to step it up because camel game's hyper jump game has a very similar playing style (its fun and has great graphics too)

I recently tried Hamster Climb on a Sony Ericsson x10 mini pro and the game ran mostly fine. Tilt worked nicely and the graphics were pretty smooth. Good for such a small phone.
However. When using touch controls the game would listen to my touch input for a couple of seconds and then just ignore them for 1-3 secs just to continue working for a while again afterwards. This is FATAL in Hamster Climb since that's just about enough time to miss the boxes and your game is over.
Has anyone seen this before? Was the phone I used defective or is this something others have experienced in other games before? Is this unique to the x10 mini pro?
I've added Facebook integration to Hamster Climb! Now you can post your score to your Facebook wall. There's also a link to the Hamster Climb Facebook page from the main menu.
I haven't released anything yet but here's a beta for you to try if you want.
I just released the new version of Hamster Climb that includes Facebook integration. You can now easily post your score to your Facebook wall right from the Game Over screen!
Hamster Climb works on one phone and not another??
Got a Question: my wife and I both have new Droid X phones. They are functionally identical - same O/S (Android 2.2.1), both Verizon, no real differences other than I have more stuff loaded at this point.
I loaded Hamster Climb on mine last week. Works great. Loaded it for her phone on Saturday evening. Not so great.
On her phone, there is no side-to-side motion indicated/available: when the game starts, the hamster goes up and comes down.... that's it (note that I really can't tell whether it is responding to up/down motion - the side-to-side thing is evident, and I can't get her any further along to figure that out.
Obvious first-step remedies: I Rebooted the phone. Same problem. Uninstalled the game, then re-installed it. Same problem.
Turned the phone 90 degrees left and right: the home pages and app pages and browser pages all rotate correctly as expected.
Figured we had a partial accelerometer problem, so I called Verizon. They had me do 2 things:
(1) reset the O/S by removing the battery for 10+ seconds. No luck.
(2) Loaded up Labrynith to check the accelerometers. That game works perfectly (as it previously had on my phone as well).
Back to Hamster Climb -- still no luck. Verizon tech explained that on some phones, "3rd party apps" can work differently on different phones even though they appear to be configured identically. Labryinth apparantly uses input from all 6 accelerometers -- they didn't know about how Hamster Climb was done.
I don't know how much of that story to buy -- I'm still thinking there may be a phone problem. Nonetheless, I wanted to report this and see the reactions. Thanks very much.

Hi!
Have you managed to solve the problem? If not, did you try other climbing games? Doodle jump, Papi jump etc. Have you calibrated in the Options? Did you try different sensitivities?
