Default Age of Empires/Heroes of Might and Magic

So I'm new to the Android gaming (other than via emulators) and I was wondering if anyone can recommend some real-time strategy or turn based strategy games that are of the same ilk as Warcraft I/II, Age of Empires, Heroes of Might and Magic, etc.

I've got a few RPGs I've been playing around with (LOVE dungeon hunter), and I'd like to find a few (or at least one) fun strategy games. Thanks in advance.

Pocket Empires is pretty good.

Would love a really good RTS. There is one out there, forget the name, but it costs money and there's no demo, so I never bothered.

If you can remember the name, I'd give it a try. If it's on the market, we get the 24 hour return policy.

I was actually going to check out "The Settlers" but it got horrific reviews and it looks like it's abandonware at this point.

Interesting. Looks like it has some bugs with Evo/Incredible, sadly. Also hasn't been updated since last year

I haven't played it, but Pocket Empires reminds me of one of those farmville-esque facebook games the way they market themselves. Is that not the case? If it's worth playing I'll give it a go.

In Pocket Empires You do have to build your army and city but it's free. Just update things and check back in later. The attack other players feature is coming out soon. If you try it use this referal code "5ywgo", it'll give us both some extra gems to buy stuff.

Will do.

Any other games out there?

I'm a bit surprised there aren't more, but Android gaming is still in its infancy.

Anything Populous or Civilization-like?

Found one that's not bad. Art of War 2. The resolution is designed for a smaller device so it wasn't beautiful, but the game is pretty entertaining. Still looking....

Oh man. Once this is up and running, I'll be playing final fantasy 7 non stop. I do miss C&C though.

I see Pocket Empires (1.3.3) and Pocket Empires Online (1.3.4) in the Marketplace. Is there a difference, or are they the same game?

Maybe we should petition Gameloft to give us NOVA wars, seeing as that game couldn't be any more Halo if it tried. ( still a good game though )

Gameloft really is an oddball company. They make ripoffs and license based games which historically has been a recipe for horribleness, but the games are actually decent.

There are so many in the app store for iPhone and iPad
I miss my winmob 6.1 Had much better capabilities and I could play AOE

You think Windows Mobile has MORE capabilities than your Android phone (it doesn't) and you think there are no strategy games for Android (there are several). You do realize that AoE was originally Microsoft game right?

You are on the wrong website it seems, maybe you'd be happier on a different platform.

mrmojoz I'm sorry but you sound offended!!! ?:/ Did I offend you personally? I'm new here and it's not good talking like that to newbies here imho!!

About the topic now. You're talking about quantity I'm talking about quality.
I said "I struggle to find any decent strategy game" you said "and you think there are no strategy games". And I said "Had much better capabilities" and you replied " has MORE capabilities than your Android phone (it doesn't)?"

Of course android has much more capabilities and that's why I chose it and can be the best of the best with the help of google of course BUT at the moment android is lacking some important features. For example : Proxy settings :/ Yes I can find some rom's with proxy settings enabled but what if I'm not that experienced user? Do you know why iPhone was considered one of the best? Because those who rated iOS weren't experts and were able to work with it no matter what.
But now I guess there are hundreds of people that can't connect to their workplace's wifi or Uni wifi because of that missing feature. Only if google could open and idea bank on their websites or could rely on user's feedback.

Also from what I can see from that thread, there are no good strategy games (although marketplace has a lot of them). Maybe you were right about AOE being Microsoft games. Haven't thought about that before.

Default Killer Bees

Just released an RTS to the android market. Basically I tried to "water down" the RTS until it was playable as a casual game. I think the result came out quite playable. It has no resource collecting, but you do have to conquer buildings to build an army.

Have a go and tell me what you think:

Majesty is the absolute best strategy game in the market right now.
It was a pc game some years before and even then I loved it. I'd put it a notch below homm which has got to be my all time favorite. And that's saying a lot about Majesty. Well worth it, trust me.

They have Catan for Android. Decent game, costs a few bucks, but the AI is pretty bad.

I am curius about the same thing. A Heroes of Might and Magic 2 clone cant be too hard to make for Android. There are enough people out there that love it.
