Default Castle Warriors - 3D RTS game

Hi there,
not sure if it is appropriate, but I thought I'd try a little shameless self promotion since we just released our first Android game. It is a port from the iPhone and there might be more coming soon

CASTLE WARRIORS

FEATURES
  • Simple touch controls
  • 12 battlefields linked in a campaign
  • Castles that upgrade during the battle, with new capabilities and defenses
  • Difficulty modes to suit your style of play

SCREENSHOTS

Please let me know if you have any questions.
Cheers,
-marc

Tested on:
  • Nexus One
  • HTC Droid Incredible
  • Motorola Droid X
  • HTC EVO 4G
  • Motorola Droid
  • Samsung Galaxy S 2.2

Not supported:
  • Samsung Galaxy S 2.1
  • HTC Magic
  • HTC Wildfire
  • HTC Hero
  • ZTE Racer
  • MyTouch 3G Slide

The first thing that pops into my head when I hear the music is the Xmas song "Comfort & Joy" or whatever it's called!

Hmmn, thats interesting, I'm on a Galaxy S too, and as I mentioned can't see it, but my HTC Desire can see the game in the market...

Can any other GS users confirm this is the same for them?

I presume its an accreditation issue with the GS and the UK Android Market (still). Other games like FIFA 10 still aren't appearing.

Hi guys,
thanks for the feedback! This is our first foray into Android territory, so we are not terribly familiar with the marketplace dynamics. Is there anything we can/should do to check availability in different countries/devices?

cheers,
-marc

thanks for the reply Marc, but I'm not overly sure whether the Galaxy S is something you guys can sort, or if you'll have to pester Google to get the Galaxy S accredited properly so all the apps are viewable.

This game looks awesome! Can it be installed on the SD card rather than the phone itself?

47MB is a lot of space for an original Moto Droid......

Thanks for bringing quality gaming to the Android platform!!!!

I wont pretend to be all knowing, but I don't think something released on the US Marketplace can be obtained in some other countries marketplace. I know some devs will set up a paypal method of buying the game and manually sending it to a person. Kind of dumb but it is what it is for now.

I don't know how well it would run on my moment but I don't see it on the market either. I was going to give it a shot. I do have android 2.1 on the phone also.

@shocky doh, sorry to hear that! We don't have that device to test yet, glad you got your money back.

@KAuss yes, you can replay replay levels in skirmish mode after unlocking them in campaign.

@flukeSG2 please let us know if it ever shows up in the marketplace on EVO, we are kind of puzzled by this, too...

Thanks everybody for your support, some teething problems here, but hopefully we'll manage to sort things out, soon. Appreciate all reports on game availabilities and working handsets.

cheers,
-marc

@Gameresort:

You can also list the game on Slideme, an alternate Market that all users can access everywhere.

Looks great! It reminds me a bit of Populous. Storage is an issue and will hold me back for now. If a future version has an option to install to sd card (and my provider has an update for Android 2.2), I'll definitely be having a look at this again.

It looks interesting, but there aren't many details about the game listed.

Are there different weapons, or varying game elements as you play, or is each assualt essentially the same?

Maybe add another youtube video showing some of the diversity?

Something like this would be great on my Droidx, but I'd want something that would last a while, instead of something I'd be done with in a day or so.

No problem, I hope you fix it or release a version for this phone as it looks like a fun game.

I'm guessing this is optimised for snapdragon based devices.

I wonder if there is something funky going on with the Android copy protection scheme, the game is not showing up on a lot of different stores...

@Jedii thanks! May I ask what your device/country is?

@Scrav, sdcoiner76 we need to look into the SD card option, seems rather useful.

@ Gareee here is a review from the iPhone version with more info Castle Warriors Review for iPhone | Touch Arcade

@NZtechfreak thanks for the Slideme link, looks very interesting. We will look into it.

@ Shocky The galaxy should be supported, but we might run out of memory on the device. We'll need to find a device to test.

Installing to the SD card is a simple addition to the androidmanifest file. see here: App Install Location | Android Developers. I hope you include it, this would be a fantastic game once you implement that.

Hi there, just want to say that the game looks great. However, does not seem to run on my galaxy spica i5700 running android 2.1... any ideas. The game starts, but seems to run very slow (800 Mhz processor) and all the images show up as white silhouettes, please advise, looking forward to playing.

I see the mention of a 99 cent launch special.. is that already over? (The price I see is $2.99, not $.99)

I'll be the droid x gunea pig.

@Ozymandias88 awesome, thanks!

@Sckraps we haven't been able to test on any Galaxy devices, you should return the game and wait until we can confirm the device (we'll probably need to setup a list of confirmed devices somewhere...). Sorry for the inconvenience.

@ Gareee we did the special for the launch of the iPhone version last year, still trying to get a better understanding of the Android market to see what makes sense here.

I don't see how, Galaxy S is the highest spec Android phone available, should have more than enough memory and storage.

Awesome job porting the game over from iPhone GameResort. I pick up the game last year on iPhone while i was still rocking my iPhone 3GS, and it was fun. As for the price issue, I don't think $3 is too much to ask for the game, in my opinion it is worth the price. But I would say that the fact the game is cheaper on iPhone/iPad might raise a little a question for some people, or at least for me, why is there a price difference between the platforms? Is there something extra on the Andriod version? Is android platform harder to program for?

Good luck on the game, I might pick the game up again soon, but since I own an iPad now, I am thinking picking up the iPad version instead of the android version, since it is cheaper. Although if they are the same price, I would probally buy the android version for my Htc Evo instead.

One more thing, it is unfortunately there is not a good game promotion site like toucharcade for android games, I think it would help promote good games, incease game sales, as well as attract more developer to the platform.

It originally wasn't showing up on my Streak with 2.1 but now it is. Runs and looks superb on that 5 inch screen.

Very pleased with the game (as mentioned earlier) and glad you ported it.

It does show up in the market here. Shame us android users don't also get the same intro special as Iphone users. 8(

Guess its because we don't have antenna issues..

urgh , now I want to play this game >.<
can't find it on the market , on androidzoom.com, nor androidapplication.com
using Galaxy S , I tried to emulate a US carrier (T-mobile) still no good ...

appbrain link for the game
Castle Warriors - Android app on AppBrain

and you may want to include a QR code for your game , would make it easier for ppl to look for it on the market (and never find it :P)

I am willing to pay more for games on android (even though i can understand why we have too since i thought apple kept like 30% of the money, didnt think google did).

But with so few quality games i am willing to pay as much as a cup of coffee.

HOWEVER, we need more games than can be partially stored on SD card. I would buy this game but i am almost out of internal memory and installing this would mean i have to uninstall many other programs. BTW.. i am using the EVO.

Make the game able to be stored on SD and you will open up for more sales.

But thanks for trying out the android market. We all hope you stay awhile.

47 megs down to 21 is a HUGE difference. Is the content zipped or compressed now?

Honestly, with the space in a droid x, I don't see myself ever running out of room.

I've got the game installed on my desire, and it installed itself to SD card with out me having to move it. Also the application is only 9.29mb total. I got the info from the manage applications menu.
Running 2.2

Would get this - but my Hero (2.1) doesn't have enough space left for this - I only have 32mb left
