Default Looking for old Palm OS game- SPACEWAR (star trek turned based strategy game)

Hey, I had a Palm Pilot and a Handspring Visor (way back in the day!) and i used to play this game called Space War. Based on Star Trek.

Palm OS games. Space War 3.0 for Palm OS

It was this turn based strategy game where you would fly your star ship around and battle other star ships.

In 1 turn, you would point to where you wanted your ship to fly to, and where you wanted it to fire. Then, you pressed go and then EVERYONE would move at the same time. THe goal was to anticipate where you thought the enemy ship would fly to and hit it, etc.

Is there anything like this game for Android?
Or is there a Palm emulator?

Thanks!

I remember playing that game too! It was amazing fun for how simple it was. I would love to find that game, or a similar one. I've been spending all night trying to find a game similar to EGATrek (an old DOS game based on an even older mainframe game called Star Trek) both of which are somewhat similar to SpaceWar, except your turn is completed before the enemy moves, instead of anticipating the enemies move.

I came very very close with a title called Galaxy Trek, except its only for iphone as far as I can tell. Still hunting, but incredibly frustrating to find that title and it not be available for my phone...grrrrrrr.

Anyway, will be checking this post for updates

I'm glad someone else has played that game! Hopefully someone will find it...is there a palm emulator?

I know this thread has been quiet for a while, but I noticed there is now an Android app similar to Spacewar:

Phonetrek
PhoneTrek - Android app on AppBrain

Personally, I'd prefer graphics over ASCII, but it's a start, and beggars can't be choosers...

Hmmm... in that case you might like space squadron, it's pretty much a cross between steambirds and those old trek style games.

I remember that in th days of space invaders and paratroopers you had 1 ship you could turn it make it moove so it flew around the screen like crazy and you set power to the sheild and lazers by pressing s and l the more power in the lazer the less in the shild and vice versa but your lazer lost range with less power going to it

thanks, guys. actually, i tried space squadron, and i couldn't get past the first level, the controls weren't too good. i will keep looking in this theme! i hope games like Steambirds come out, more, the great part about Spacewar was that you could be different ships, like the Romulans, Klingon, even the Borg Cube! and teleport! VERY cool.
@jonemptage, i hear ya, were those turn based games? there's a simplicity in these types of games, it's not about reaction time, but about the strategy.

I think it must have been because in those days 1987 you couldent play 2 player simulatiously on one machine I dont think but i was only 3. and paratroopers wa only 1 player

Default This must be solved!

I played this game on my dad's old palm pilot riding the bus to middle school. I MUST play it again. I spent a few minutes messing with an emulator, with no success. While I don't expect to be able to play it on my android phone, I'd kill to experience it again. have you had any luck? I tried contacting the original creator to see what he could do, we shall see if he gets back to me.

hey, did you hear back from the developer? that would ROCK if he/she made an android version!

the closest game i found was Steambirds, very close to the turn by turn, game play, etc. wish you could play against other, etc. but hey, what can you do.

please let me know if you hear from the developer!
