Default Dolphin Wii Emulator for Android, is it possible??

I was just thinking to myself how cool would it be to have the Dolphin Wii Emulator for higher end Android devices. Probably just wishful thinking, but I noticed there is a Linux version of Dolphin and since Android is based on a Linux kernel, is this at all feasible? I'm not any kind of coder at all, but if there are any out there, has anyone talked or thought of this before?

So this is mainly a what-if kind of thread, like I said wishful thinking.

if the hardware was capable then the coding would deff be possible.. if a coder was ever able to do it they would make some BIG money since dolphin plays Wii and Gamecube!!!

we probably wont see this untill 2.x ghz phones start releasing witch will most likely be in 2012 =) the htc flyer is clocking at 1.5 GHz dualcore processor and the year has just begun. so hopefully next year will be the start of higher end emulators.

and dito to what 187 said

yeah it's highly possable the phones all have the functanality of the wii mote acelleromiter etc the only problem i can see is for games like wii sports where you cant really swing your phone like a tennis racket on a crouded train or bus can you and you'd look a bit stupid doing sa in the vatergan but for stuff like golden eye or super mario yes although a pst emulator would probly work better.

not really you can make it to where it is plugged in to a gamecube if im not mistaken i can play ever wii game i own with a gamecube remote plugged in to the socket of player one and they all run just fine. you will most likely be able to do the same with a bluetooth gamepad emulating the gamecube controller

I watched the demo of the Kal-El quad-core from Nvidia...I'm hoping that that will be the one that can do the feats that I'd really like to see.

im sure the kal-el gpu would be able to manage the dolphin emulator, its apparently 5 times faster than tegra 2. Any coders have an opinion on this?

Not with the current Dolphin, not a chance. A PC ten times more powerful than Kal El doesn't run Dolphin smoothly.

It's going to take a while. My laptop with a Core i7 Quad Core, GeForce GTS360M 1GB RAM Video Card Overclocked, 6GB DDR3 RAM is barely enough to run full speed on most games... and that is after years of Dolphin code optimization. I still get some minor slowdowns during intense portions of some games.

The amount of power alone that it takes to power this thing drains a 6 cell battery in 30 minutes! There's so much heat it's like I have a blow dryer on my lap.

There is no doubt that the phone processor will be much more power efficient and the screen will suck less power but I still think we are a long way off from having enough power in a mobile phone.

My Asus G51Vt laptop with a 2.4ghz core 2 duo and a nvidia 9800gs runs dolphin games at a constant 45fps without a problem at full 1080p resolutions. I also use it regularly on my G71G which also plays it at a constant 60fps, thats with a 2.53ghz core 2 duo and 2gb more ram than the G51Vt.

If you are having slow downs, you probably aren't optimizing it for your setup. There should be a link on their website for optimizations.

Also, I guess I should specify this a little better, I'm not exactly picturing Dolphin running on a mobile phone, I'm leaning more to the tablet sector that is blowing up right now.

Technically it would be possible to run it on most android devices as the Wii has an ARM processor so no need for a processor emulator plus it isn't even a whole gigahert that's why it's so slow on the computer plus most androids have Bluetooth and natively support connecting a Wii mote the only problem would be storage which could be solved with a flash drive or second 32 GB sdcard for phones/tablets for games

The technology is already here and it's not even that expensive. The Wii uses a single core 730Mhz Power-PC chip. For any devs interested in starting this project, there are quad core 1.7GHZ ARM development boards for only $89.

Check out HardKernel.com

Dolphin is great, for up-scaling the game resolution. But as far as ease of use, I still prefer using my own Wii and USBLoader GX. If we could get a combination of the two, that would be awesome!

If you're a dev and serious about recoding/compiling Dolphin for ARM/Android, start a kick starter, I'd certainly chip in.

well the wii u is actually an android phone with the wii u emulator on it.
I mean that the wii u actually uses the android operating system to some point.
So if we (and by we i mean i will probably do all the work) manage to boot up our phone/tablet with the wii u operating system the phone is actually going to boot up running it (with lots of lag).
But the only problem is that we will need a high end device to be able to boot up the phone without it crashing.
So the wii operating system has been known to be ported to wii u, so that means we can run the ported version on our phones/tablets. But its going to need lots of processing power and maybe lots of battery power and is not worth the hasstle.
But i have tried to do so and failed because my xoom is not fast enough.
