FREE on both Amazon App & Google Play. Kindle Fire support also.
It'll be my next RPG I DL after I finish Symphony of Eternity (which is also awesome).

The Gailardia series is great, but not all the title has been translated to english, I think they have like 2 out of there 5 Gaillardia title of translated
Glad you liked my recommendation! :]
Yeah man, I'm finally digging into Gailardia now that I finished Symphony of Eternity. It looks like Android/Google Play had 1, 2, & 3 translated. IMO, this means future translations are on the way also of 4 & 5. (If you're playing on a Kindle Fire, looks like the Amazon App store only has the first game as of 8/6/12)
I rented Dragon Warrior/Quest on the NES as a kid but was too young to grasp the RPG genre. Great to be able to play a clone on the go now that I appreciate the style of gameplay! I laughed so hard when I first faced a Slime enemy in Gailardia. The mascot of the Dragon Quest series is the game! His head isn't as pointed but it is clearly inspired by it! Being a Dragon Quest clone is NOT a bad thing! And the first game for free... SCORE!
From what I've seen however, Android users are always complaining about the costs of a game - anything over $1 is outrageous.
Yes, some Android users are cheap. Also, some iPhone users are cheap, some Windows users are cheap, etc. And some Android users paid the higher prices for games like FF3 and Spectral Souls without complaint.
I'd like to put out there Dungeon Ascendance. It's an RPG where you choose a character and clear out a dungeon. There are lots of different classes and dungeons. Love it!

Android is seriously losing grounds to iOS in Western RPG offerings.
BioWare is rebooting Ultima. Ultima Forever is the remake of Ultima IV: Quest of the Avatar. The few reviews from beta testers, most of whom were fans of the original Ultima games, have been (surprisingly) positive.
Ultima Forever will be released on the PC and iOS. There is no plan for an Android version.

Hey, does anyone here know if they included the mastery items and the secret dungeon in Final Fantasy III for Android? I am just about to be able to beat the game but I want to find all the extra stuff first.
Andor's Trail is really awesome and Baldurs Gate for Android tablets comes out soon. I'm hoping to release one of my own soon, but its still a month or two off.
Symphony of Eternity - Old style graphics but still tons of fun. Engaging story line. Twenty five out so hours of playing time.
+1 on Chaos Rings.
I second chaos rings. I just bought it for $4 a few days ago and it plays like butter on the nexus 7. If you liked ff7 or 8 you will enjoy it. It uses pre-rendered like 7 and 8 and I believe the character designer is the same. A great old school jrpg.
A lot of JRPG ideas here, If you'd like a more Rogue-like game I can highly recommend Delver (First person 3d dungeon crawler with permadeath) or Legends of Yore (top-down roguelike, a bit more forgiving)
Eve of Genesis went on sale... and I picked it up. It has a battle system which is a simplified version of Symphony of Eternity. Overall, am not liking it too much.
Not sure if anyone's ever played it, but are there any RPGs on Android that are similar to Chrono Cross? Or can you get Chrono Cross on Android (without a PS emulator)?
Ignore every post thus far. Half the suggestions aren't even RPG's. They completely remade Final Fantasy III for the Nintendo DS and that exact remake has been ported to Android. Drop the $16.99, it's well worth it. I can't put it down.
Edit: By "they" I mean Square Enix.
Edit2: I see Flipkik beat me to it. Take our advice. Like I said, it's beyond worth the money. I downloaded it almost a month ago when I got my HTC Evo V 4G and was afraid to open it because I knew what would happen when I did. Started it five days ago and I've logged almost 17 hours. Do it. It's crack on your phone.

Chrono Trigger is available for Android, but not Chrono Cross. Like everyone before me has stated, FF3 is excellent. Another one I might recommend is Inotia 3 or Inotia 4. Both are quality freemium games.

Zmalus is spot on. I have put 50 hours into this game and I am STILL not done with my first play through. This game isn't gold, it is PLATINUM!!!
I hate freemium games. I would much rather pay for a complete solid game in one shot thank you very much.

Have grown to like Eve of Genesis. The simplified battle system is compensated by a more interesting "exploration" in the EoG world. Don't know how else to put it.

It's good another one of you don't mind spending 20 bucks is final fantasy dimensions which my first play through I did 50 hours on and it's got all the old school final fantasy feel with a new coat, good humor and great story
RPG games and many other online games have come up to a long way since the opening of role playing games. Now there are still role playing games on the Internet that you can play for free. Final Fantasy XII is mine favorite RPG game and I think that many people like to play this game.
