Default GBA emulator .sav file

Hi everyone,

I've just upgraded to a Nexus one form my old N95.
I had a Gameboy emulator called Vbag, and started playing various games. Actually, I've gotten well into many of them, and wouldnt like to start again.

Now with the nexus, what can I do with Gameboid to retrieve my old saved files?
I found a file in the Vbag directory on my N95 called eg. PokemonFireRed.sav.
I sent this to my computer, and all it is is just text of about 10,000 ÿÿÿÿ characters. Is this really a save file?
So simply my question is, will I have to start over in all the games, or can I continue somehow?
