This configuration works well for lower levels on the Courtyard map, but would need reinforced SAM missiles to be successful on higher levels.
Eventually as I earn more money, I swap out the gun towers for more rocket towers for added defense, and upgrade rocket towers to heavies at the enemy's 4 entrances.
The Courtyard is difficult because you have to let it "breathe" - allowing for criss-crossing traffic, but then still route the enemy through your custom-crafted "gauntlet".
I have 2 achievements left to get (55 of 57) but I'm nowhere near "finishing" this game - it's endless fun!
EDIT: I have all 57 achievements finished - took me about a month of casual playing

It's been a while since I played the Courtyard, but I did play it twice today. I'm very rusty.
After reviewing your screen I have three comments:
First, you dedicate missiles to a single flight path and therefore have three groups of missiles. I initially place missiles between two vertical flight paths so that each missile can attack two vertical flight paths. I don't worry about the horizontal flight path.
Second,I force all enemy units into a single path. Some run one way, and other the other way --but still the same path. My top row is similar to yours, but I have no openings. I force units entering at the top to go to the left. Then I have a second path (that contains units from three openings, that runs all the way to the right. The path goes around the pillar and then goes to the pillars on the left. Like you I eventually have 4 of my units between the two left pillars. The path then goes to the right and has an opening at the lower right pillar. Needless to say, I have some blue infantry blocking the paths so the enemy can't go around my paths. I then try to upgrade rockets in the two middle rows.
Third, I use teleporters at the vertical flight path exits. I don't use a teleporter for the horizontal flight path. First, I'll use a single teleporter/path. Late in the game, I'll add a second teleporter.
My approach is far from perfect. I lose a lot of lives early in the game as I try to construct my paths. I tied installing mines at the exits, which initially saved lives, but it held back the construction of the paths and the aircraft start flying before I constructed teleporters. And you need to construct at least one missile before constructing a teleporter. I've had aircraft teleported back 10 times before dying--each time reducing my cash by $3--sometimes completely spending my cash.
Hope this gives you some ideas to experiment with.

I thought an interesting addition (maybe for RD2.0) would be to introduce enemy units which cause tower damage...and you would need to spend money to repair them.
This idea comes from the old days when I played a lot of Age of Empires II...units sustain damage but can be repaired if you have the resources.
Demolition units, like bombs on wheels ram into towers which subsequently incur damage.
Bomber planes dropping "dumb bombs" and fighter jets with accurate missiles.
Enemy mortar units which have to stop for a moment to fire off a round, giving you time to kill 'em while they're stopped.
Units which can leap over a wall of towers or are immune to certain towers.
And, damaged towers become less effective, functioning at lowered power...they become weaker, slower firing, missiles cause less damage until fully repaired.
Also, along the same lines of the "Drop Ship", I think it would be nifty to add another new enemy unit which deposits an enemy portal. Like an air unit which carries in a portal as payload...And if they manage to drop it in the middle of your map, enemy units would spontaneously leap out of it as though it was another map entrance. Portals could be about the same endurance as the Titan enemy unit, and could be destroyed to prevent further incursion. It would be the enemy version of the teleport tower.
Lastly, it would be nice to have a matrix of sorts to categorize which towers are most effective against which enemies, and which are least effective against which enemies. Sort of an attributes chart showing strengths & weaknesses.
Thoughts?

Subexpression,
I initially liked your idea of diminishing strength, but I've changed my mind. The concept is fine, but I think it just would require too much work. It may mean that for almost every game level (100), I would need to rebuild strength for every one of my units. There's already enough to do. I don't need more.
I agree with your suggestion for a matrix.
I wish each unit showed it's strength, defense, and health.. For example, infantry may have a strength of 5 against ground troups, 1 against aircraft, defense of 5, and starting health of 5. This would help me determine whether it's better to have two rockets, or one upgraded rocket.
For those experiencing the negative value bugs, that's because you've played way, way, way too much.
As someone said above, the maximum value of a 'normal' number in programming is 4,294,967,296 (2^32). Once you exceed this, weird things happen which can lead to negative numbers or even program crashes.
The developer of this game made everything endless based on some simple formula that multiplies enemy health by the level you're at, and multiplies your tower damage by the upgrade level. The waves of enemies are just randomly generated.
This basically means that you're just playing the same map over and over again, only with higher enemy health and higher weapon damage, which basically cancel each-other out. The only difference is the higher numbers in your scores, etc, which are purely generated by a multiplication algorithm...
There is no end to the game. And if the developer wanted to, he could easily fix the 4 billion max value and make it virtually infinity (2^64, or use a special variable with no upper bounds).
I liked this game too and played it for a few hours non-stop, but it's a pure time-sink with no ending objective and no real rewards for playing longer.

Sounds just like my wife talking;-)
I mainly played while watching TV, or standing in lines.
It tells me that I watch too much TV and stand in too many lines.
It also bothered my wife when I played while watching TV with her, but I kept playing anyway most of the time.
It took me over 6 months to get to negative scoring, and I haven't upgraded most items above Level 100. I'm now at about game level 1600.
I've only played three games over the past 2-3 weeks. With each I tried something novel. For example, one game I limited myself to three lines of defenders, would not upgrade to anti-aircraft missiles and tried to get a perfect game. I failed. I still won only losing 3 or 4 lives.
I'm probably a nerd as well, but it is worth the $3 I paid for it.
I told my wife that "I beat the Game." She's happy.
I think I figured out another bug. When you amass 2.1 billion rewards dollars, it goes negative.
I'm just experimenting here with version 1.2. I've got my beginning cash to $50,000.00, that gives me over 200 million cash bonus per game. All of my rocket power/speed is upgraded to level 4000.
I put down 10 $20 rocket towers and set the game on fast forward.
I upgraded my health to 1085 just for fun. I received a remaining health bonus a couple games ago and wanted to see how high the bonus would be. I haven't received a remaining health bonus since I did the massive upgrade.
The game is flawed, but I'm having fun exploring the flaws.
Is there a way to LOCK the game on FF so I don't have to tap it at the beginning of each level?
Also, has anyone discovered optimum map codes for obtaining the most points on the VR levels? I saw the post recomending VR-A0003. What about for B, C, and D?

Get to the "tap screen to start game" point, hit "menu," and then "options." You'll be able to configure the game to continue in FF through levels and after loss of life.
To the best of my knowledge, VR-A0003 will get you the maximum points.

Yes, I understand that VR-A0003 gets you the max for VR-A. I'm wondering if anyone has discovered an optimum code for VR-B, VR-C or VR-D?

No suggestions? Oh well, I'm done with B and almost done with C. Then I'll only have 3 achievements left - VR-D, Factory 25 and Courtyard 25. That will keep me busy for a while.
Not much to it, but I spent so frigging long getting here, I just can't seem to quit.
I just lay down four rocket towers and a slow tower and set the game to FF.
I guess I just want to be the "Robo-Defense" wizard.
I don't see any end to this thing, I think I'll just sit here at my desk and let it run to 10,000.
Too bad I can't figure a way for it to auto-configure new games. That would be cool. Let the game catch up to my upgrades (that I got through the negative awards glitch.)
I am playing at about level 315 Basic and I have been saving up reward points for later use. At around 2.15 billion, a negative symbol suddenly appeared in front of the point count and I, now, cannot spend anything on upgrades. If I play a new game, the points won for that game just get subtracted from the negative balance. Since I average 10 to 12 million per game, at this level, I would have to play about 200 games just to get to zero before I could begin accumulating reward points I could use again. That means I would have to play 400 games to get back to where I was when the points became negative (200 down and 200 back up).
Is there any fix for this glitch? It took me two months of several games a day to save up that many points. It would take four months to work my way back to zero and, then, back up to where I was (I would spend them right away, this time). I love this game, but, I am not going to spend four months just to get back to where I already was when the glitch happened. I just want to spend the friggin' points I earned! Help!

There's no way to get the dollars back. Quite frankly, you're going to be hard pressed to progress in the game being that you basically lost 4 billion dollars that would have been spent on rewards. It is a known flaw of this game that at slightly over 2 billion dollars, your bank goes negative. On a positive note, if you could manage to make it to about level 1500, you'll be earning close to a billion a game and the negative awards will start happening.
You'd probably be best off to delete the game and start fresh. Sorry I don't have better news.
Wow, I hate to hear that, although, that is what I figured. No way I am going to delete everything and start from scratch. All those achievements and levels on each game type? Too much to do over again. I looked at the bak file and I see the - in the reward column. I am going to try to edit the file and remove it or reinstate the the correct amount.

Yes, I saw that sight. That is what gave me the idea. If I have time, I will fool around with it this weekend. I have to find and download a program to edit the file. I have no clue what I am doing, but, it does not look complicated and while I have no idea how to read the amount of reward points in the file, I see the minus symbol and it should not be to difficult to remove it and replace the file.
Anyone have a pic of the Titan. I achieved the task but never got to see what it looked like and I'm really upset. BTW it seems he appears in Ruins lvl 30 or 50 for those who havent accomplished this yet. If you do attempt this task, try and get a pic and post it online. I'm sure many "Defense" players would appreciate that. Thanks
there he is in the upper left under the score.
I've seen him a bunch of times, but it's hard to get a good shot, since he is usually being hammered by rockets and slow towers.
I have finished all the achievements. The titan i didnt even see. I was fast forwarding at level 30 in the basic map and suddenly i saw that i had finished the achievement. Kind of dissapointing but i love this game, its one of the most addicting games i have ever played.
Ok this game is great There is just one thing bothering me: when I click on a turret i dont get any statistics (about upgrades).
Example of how it should be: http://www.eurodroid.com/pics/robo_defense_2.png
At my phone (Galaxy i9000) it just says: "lvl 0 (+0%)"....this sucks because I like stats. I never had the free version, installed the payed version immediately
Everyone says they have acomplished all 56 achievements, but there is a 57th achievement that I am wondering if anyone has accomplised. The 57th achievement is, Find and Defeat the Titan. I am currently on level 270, and have not found or defeated the Titan on any map, and when I beat level 270 it will unlock 280. Almost seems like no end. I have lvl 36 starting cash, lvl 33 stronger explosives, lvl 32 fasster antiair reload, lvl 32 faster rocket reload. I never use the flame tower and rarely use artillery unless it is very strategivcally placed so I can fully utilize its very big attack radius. My biggest weakness seems to be air defense. Guess my improvements will be concentrated on faster anti air reload, starting cash, and stronger explosives. Lvl 34 strongeer exploxives is 25 million to upgrade so that sucks since I get around 6 million a game and rather improve other things.
You need to not let anything through for 79 levels in a single game and be on over level 100 in the overall levels.
I got robo defense helper the other day and it really works. I'm a big cheater so its perfect for me. If you get it be careful because you can ruin the game for yourself. You can upgrade everything. I just tweaked a couple things like unlocked the teleport mines and gave myself a little more starting money. It gives me a little edge.
Is there a way to reset your Rob Defense game? Id like to get a fresh start from scratch but cant figure out how to do this, or if its even possible.
Robo defense helper on the market. 0.99. The develeper is really cool and will answer any problems you have. Be careful that you don't over do it on the upgrades because you will.make the game very boring very quickly.
I love this game - It was my go to game for the last 2 years on a G1. (Although I didn't get the crazy insane high scores that a lot of you did. I mostly just tried to see how high a level I could play on & still get a "perfect" game bonus.)
On to the point: I've just recently upgraded from the G1 to an HTC Evo.
Now the game is ... there's no other way to put it ... BLURRY.
The resolution just can't handle the larger screen size.
I get that. I totally understand why it's happening.
But with so many phones getting larger screens, I'm sure people would appreciate a higher resolution version of the game.
Hotel Mogul (another good game, although not as addicting as Robo) has a regular version, and a High Res version.
It makes a HUGE difference on my Evo, and it's GORGEOUS.

First thing I noticed when I got my Evo, the graphic quality of robo defence is minimal. Just enough to make it look ok on a 2.3" screen. I first started playing robo defence on my wife's Samsung Moment, while waiting for the Evo to launch. When I got the Evo, the first thing I did was to buy robo defence. You'll get used to the graphics after a few hours, but it would be nice to sharpen them up a wee bit.

Yeah, I know some people will get used to the low resolution soon enough. (Probably the same people who don't seem to notice when their wide screen TVs are on the wrong setting. They happily watch their shows and not notice that everything's bizarrely horizontally stretched.)
I can always hope that someday they'll offer a "large screen" version.
In the mean time, I find I'm playing Robo less and less. And it's because the lackluster graphics are just so BLAH now.
If my first experience with Robo had been on the Evo, I think I would have been disappointed.

I hate to say it, but I laugh everytime someone posts that they've been playing for hundreds of levels and not spending their upgrade points, then they go negative and that person starts whining... maybe if they read the forum pages they would see, not only what caused it, but how to fix it has been put on these pages more than twice...
I would say it is more fun to do the harder levels, only because so much more is happening on the screen at one time. I got a little carried away when I hit my first negative reward upgrade and now have to catch up to my own abilities (I am just past level 1000 and I can finish A001 VR with 4 Rockets, and 5 surface to air with 3 slow towers, all upgraded. I play in fast forward, and the only time I lose any health is if I accidentally setup a tower up in the wrong spot).
I made an excel sheet with the layouts of all the standard boards (with one cell per actual square on the map) and made several variants on the boards for how to play, but have not needed them yet... I figure once I get around level 1500 or 2k I'll need to use more towers and will start using these layouts, I even went to the trouble of figuring out how to deploy the towers in 3 stages (pre level 20, pre level 40, and level 60-70) so that I would not lose any health, determined the amount of cash needed to build the layouts for each stage, and then eliminated the layouts that required too much money. but by the time I get to that difficulty, I will have more than enough cash to handle building the whole thing as quick as I can touch my screen!
fyi you have to keep doing upgrades as you level to keep your cash positive, I normally throw the upgrades into things I am not using until the difficulty catches up to me, like cash and health.
I'll edit this later and add the current upgrade levels I am at.

I don't see it as double posting, since it has been almost 30 days...
YEAH, UPDATES!
maybe the dev reads this thread? Loving the new air attack graphics, please consider the following:
double the strength of the Titan
make him "non-teleportable"
let him destroy units?
I'd also like to see updated backgrounds (high rez as I'm planning on playing this on my tablet when I get it this year)
some new units?
how about one that does not fly straight to the exit?
or on boards with multiple exits, randomly flies to one, so they are not all in a line?
Or make some units immune to rockets (since everyone piles rocket launchers out to kill everything)
any way to update the bit size eliminating the negative funds issue?
how about more "types" of upgrades (missile->rocket->flaming rocket, mortar->super mortar->nuke)?
I would love the option to place units while paused
faster fast forward
option to turn off ballistic graphics for slower phones? (not the Evo of course)
larger boards
pinch to zoom!
slow mo (1/2 speed)?
choose your own number of waves? (using a multiplier for bonus cash at the end based off the number of waves chosen)
new achievement for finishing a level in under a certain number of seconds (similar to the fast forward option) at specific difficulties
new achievement for completing higher levels (even if just changing the current ones to 25, 100, 250, 500, 1000 difficulties, instead of 10, 20, 40)
increase the number of units per wave
Level 7000 here (yes, I encountered the "negative award" level)
Problem is, I'm playing the game now to see if it can catch up to the insane level my rocket strength is at (level 21,000). So far, it still only takes six regular rocket towers to kill everything that comes out. It's not really a game anymore, I just start it, and forget it. Takes about 8 minutes per game on fast forward.
Hey, does anyone know if there's a version of Robo Defence for the computer? My 7 year old is hooked on the game, but can't always get my phone. And no, I'm not getting him one yet!

Why not? get a phone from Ebay that requires no contract, here is a link to search for sub $25 phones, filter to buy it now, sort lowest price first, there are phones $10 and under running android. And you should get great battery life running in airplane mode all the time... You'll have to put the .apk files on a memory card to get things installed, but at those prices it is cheaper than almost any toy you could buy for him.
I hate the jeeps. Oh, do any of you ever have the issue of having fast forward stuck being on. Ok, sometimes ff is on at normal speed, and when I press ff it is like blurry fast. Happened only a couple times...but through me for a loop lol.
I'm only at like level 100, but now it takes like 5 rockets from a level 23 rocket tower upgraded twice to kill a jeep.
LOVE the game though.
Wish there were more options. Idk how some of you ppl. play up to the levels you are at lol.
Flame tower seems to be relatively useless imo.
