I like games like Baldur's Gate II / Diablo II / Morrowind on the PC. Also like most of the Final Fantasy series.
I don't like the generic RPGs like Zenonia and Dungeon Hunter on android. I like RPG games that have a bit of depth (either in mechanics or in the world itself). Can someone suggest some android RPGs that I might like?
I have a Galaxy Tab 7 Plus (1.2ghz). Price doesn't matter.

I'm looking for stuff available on the Google Play store without any emulators. Price doesn't matter.
Symphony of eternity. Amazing old school ff type of RPG. Free too on the market
I disagree on Symphony of Eternity. He is likely not going to like it.
The original poster said he liked Baldur's Gate II, Diablo II and Morrowind. Those are Western-style RPG. He then added that he did not like Zenonia, which is a Japanese-style RPG. So I guess he is not into Japanese-style RPG. He may be one of them. Recommending Symphony of Eternity, a Japanese-style RPG, to him would be a mistake.
There is a category of gamers who love Western RPG and even exclusively play WRPG, but at the same time they absolutely despise Japanese RPG with a passion. A sub-category of them are into the "old style" or "classic" Western RPG like Ultima, Fallout, Baldur's Gate and Planescape. Yet they hate "old style" or "classic" Japanese RPG like Final Fantasy 7, Final Fantasy Tactics and Chronic Trigger. Those diehard WRPG gamers often bemuse and antagonize JRPG fans and Japanophiles, but they exist.
Also, all three games he liked were real-time or simulated real-time games. So it seems to me he may not be into turn-based RPG.
I would recommend Deadly Dungeon to him, which is Western-style and has customizable skills, loots, and explorations of a grid-based underground world. It is a well-made RPG but not one of my favorites. Based on what he had revealed of his preferences, he may like it.
Nah, I like JRPGs as much as Western ones. They have great art / music and beautiful worlds to explore (even the 2d RPGs). I didn't like Zenonia (1-4) because the game had no depth in gameplay or in the world itself.
I'll check out Symphony of Eternity. Deadly Dungeon looks great too

I've tried a lot of RPGs on Android, but so far none of them has had any sort of depth.
If you were looking for RPG for a tablet instead of a phone, you would have more options:
iOS is getting the remakes -- or an "enhanced" editions -- of the entire Baldur's Gate saga, with new cotents, made by the original crew members from BioWare: Baldur's Gate: Enhanced Edition for iPad. Baldur's Gate 2 is supposed to come out this summer. Android may also get them... if Android become relevant in the tablet market.
Unfortunately, based on what I have been reading from the forums: so far the Android version has not sold as well as the iOS version, it is unlikely we will see Avernum or any future SpiderWeb games on Android. It is kinda like what had happened to Battleheart developer Mika Mobile. It kinda sucks seeing Android losing games and game developers -- especially of quality RPG games -- left and right, but it is what it is.

Avadon was made by SpiderWeb, who has been making series of RPG that are very similar to Baldur's Gate and other Western RPG of the late 1990s. SpiderWeb RPG defintely have the depth the OP was looking for. SpiderWeb is a well-known independent RPG developer for the Mac and PC. They are still "testing the grounds" for Android as well as iOS, and will determine if they should continue to make games for Android based on the response (i.e., sales) of Avadon.

Weird. I swore it was free a week ago when I got it. Sorry for ky mistake
Also, final fantasy is now on android. It isn't in the market. You have to find it elsewhere and no I won't say where or provide link but that should give you a clue where to look

I've been shopping for a tablet. I am a very cautious shopper, and Android has not been able to convince me to adopt its tablet.
I'm not going to buy an iPad, that's for sure, because I have always thought Apple products are overpriced. I'm waiting to see what Microsoft will offer with its upcoming Windows tablets, and then I'll make a decision from there. But Android tablets will lose market shares even if Windows tablets are not in the picture, and I agree after looking at and testing out some Android tablets for myself. I am not gonna invest in a product that I feel strongly will lose its market shares and relevance in the near future.

You can also play Baldur's Gate 2 on android. The GemRB app in the google play is completely free and allows you to play Baldur's Gate 1 and 2, Planscape, and Icewind dale as long as you have the original files.

Bioware has just announced they ate working to reboot the Ultima series, starting from Ultima 4: The Quest of Avatar.
And it will be for PC and iPad only. There is no plan for an Android version.
Yet again. Android gaming has been getting worse all the time (compared to what are available on the iOS. )
Yeah, I grew up on Ultima games! 4-6 were my favorites. I was about to say it boggles my mind that something positive might actually come out of EA owning Bioware, but then I saw the part where you mention no Android version. Oh well, screw you EA/Bioware, but I'll stick with DOSBox+Exult for my Ultima fix if you guys want to leave Android out.
To the Original Poster: I struggled with the search for a decent RPG on Android (Symphony of Eternity and the other Kemco JRPGs are okay, but... kind of boring and generic IMO), until recently. In addition to Avadon, which was already mentioned, I've found two other recent gems:
Aralon: Sword and Shadow -- A 3D open-world RPG much like Morrowind, but I actually like it better than Morrowind since I prefer its distinct class and level system over Morrowind's skill-based system (and the boring skill grinding that goes with it). This is my favorite game on my phone and I can't say enough good things about it. Note that it's currently only available in Amazon's app store, not Google Play.

I am a big fan of Legends of Yore by Coke&Code. free to play to level 40 and $2 after that. Gameplay is something like diablo... hack and slash... potions... tp's.
I would recommend eve of genesis over symphony of eternity its made by the same company but i just found eve more polished and more like snes look and feel to it
I know this is slightly different and MMORPG, but why not give Pocket Legends a try? It's been around for more than 2 years, but that just adds to its popularity.

Interesting. I was an avid iPad user for probably close to 2 years. I started regularly using my Android phone after disabling 3g radio (paranoid about radiation... lol) and really really really liked the interface and the overall design of the OS. I started using my 3rd gen iPad less and my Android phone more despite the screen size differences. I bought a Nexus 7 a few days ago and will be selling my iPad after I get most apps transferred to their Android equivalents (or find apps that are similar).

I think I love you, in a strictly platonic way. The main reason I didn't want to sell my iPad (but decided to anyway) was Aralon. I played it quite a bit on the iPad and it was one of my favorite games. I tried it on the iPod Touch and wow... it's small. lol I was sad that I couldn't find this game in Google's store. I just now downloaded this it on my Nexus 7 after seeing your post and am ecstatic. It's beautiful and plays just like the iPad version, but of course a bit smaller. Thank you!!!
