Apparently I'm ******** an I don't know how to play the Rom files
Anyone wanna help?
For the GBA emulator, you will need the original GameBoy Advance ROM file. Google for gba_bios.bin and copy the file to your Droid SD. I'd recommend you create a folder called games/gba and drop the ROM there along with other GBA game files. Unmount your phone and launch GBA. Point the app to the folder where you copied the ROM files.

No, it does not. Just connect the phone with a USB cable to your computer and mount it. Manual has full instructions for doing this. That's the easiest way to manage files on the SDCard.
So I don't get how the Gameboid works. I have the app downloaded, but how do I download the files to my phone for the games? Appreciate any help you can give me, thanks!

Connect your phone to the computer and download ROM's onto your SD Card.
You'll also need to download the gba BIOS file...and have it in the same folder as where you store your ROM's.
Does this load and play old gameboy games? I think the gba let you play original gameboy games...correct me if I'm wrong, or point me to an original/gameboy color emulator.

That's a good question...
One that I don't know the answer to...
In my previous experience (from the ones I used on my PC), I don't think GBA emulators could play normal GB and GBC games...
To be honest, I never tried to run a GB game on a GBA emulator because I'd have a GB/GBC emulator to run them on...lol...so I might be wrong...
In Gameboid, I can load all my ROM's except for Classic NES - Super Mario Bros. Whenever I load it, Gameboid always crashes. Has anyone gotten this to work?

solution - run super mario bros on NESOID instead.
btw duckhunt on NESOID is LOL

The GBA played GB and GBC games by including a separate processor which was used when a GB/GBC game was inserted into the cartridge slot. The base GBA CPU was not capable of emulating the GB and GBC, and so emulating the GBA CPU does not give you the capability to play GB and GBC, they're two totally different CPUs.

Good point.
I hope a decent GB and GBC emulator gets made, since Kidd GBC is a total joke....
If I can get it for free on a PC or a damn iPod touch, I should be able to get it free on a phone.
You can kiss my ass. There's not a single damn app on the market worth even a penny.
You can use Gameboid Lite. The only feature missing is the save state feature. You can still use in-game saves without any issues.
This isn't a feature of the original Gameboy Advance anyway.

so learn how to develop it yourself and it will be free.
I just got the samsung moment and i am having difficulties loading the bin file onto my phone. even when i try to download it through the phone it will not let me cuz it does not "support" that file type. anyone else got the emulator to work on moment or have any advice?

you're just bitter because you bought the cheap Droid.
This may not be the place to ask, but since this is a GameBoid thread...

The original cart had an acceleromenter in it and was mostly played with "motion" but I can't get it to run in the emu. Anyone...Buller...?

Worked perfectly for me, although I was wishing for a DS emulator. But of course, that might be asking for too much.
Cheat input support might be interesting though.
There's a work-around for this. Grab VisualBoyAdvance for your PC. Grab your save from your sd card ("gametitle".sav), put it in the same directory as the game on your PC, and change the extension from ".sav" to ".sa1" (obviously without the quotes.
Next step is to start the emulator on your PC, load up the game you want to insert code into, then hit file > Import > Battery File...
Select your .sa1 file, now you are playing the same game you are on your phone. VisualBoyAdvance has the ability to do Gameshark codes and Codebreaker codes. So insert whatever codes you like, save your game, rename the savefile back to having an extension with a .sav ending, and put the file back in the same directory as the game (on your phone).
I posted this on another thread but figured Id post it here as well. I have the GBA_BIOS file, the 16kb one. I used to play 'River City Ransom EX' on my cell phone perfectly, then one day it just stopped playing. It only gets to the Start menu where you can go to the options and then when I hit Start I find myself on the Droid home screen.
Ive been told that I need a new BIOS file, but Ive only found one thats 32kb and its seemingly impossible to download. Does anyone have any ideas as to how I can start playing 'River City Ransom' again?
I also changed the controls so the shift button on the left side is that A button. I dont think that would change anything because the other games play fine but I just figured Id mention it.

Tada!
hmmm... i tried using save states for other emulators and they're not compatible. i was really bummed too because I was all the way up to the 7th level in Zelda and now I have to start over!

Save STATES don't work, but IN GAME saves do. If you save within the game interface, you can copy the files onto your pc and continue the game at home.
Yes, but then how do you get them back on your phone? When I try to save and copy it back, it doesn't load up. Also, .sa1 files can not be imported. Only .sav files show up.
This isnt for save states, this is for in game saves. Also, to answer the other question, .sa1 and .sav files are the same, just a different extension. You can change the extension back and forth, you would know that if you actually read the directions.
so i recently downloaded gameboid and i was playing pokemon and it said that the internal battery had run dry and that time based events would not occur. anyone know how to fix that?
I read the instructions, and still did not understand that they were the same. But anyways, I know that this is for ingame saves. The game runs fine to begin with, and I save it. It looks fine, however when I go to open vba again, it says it was corrupted and loads up before I saved (Yes, in game save). In case it matters, the game is Pokemon Emerald.
Man I still cant get Boktai to work on this thing. Does anyone have any working Boktai ROMS or is it just me? Ive gone to two different sites and gotten two different ROMS for each game plus a copy of Boktai 3. None worked. I posted a thread here but it hasnt recieved an answer.

Some games just don't work man, sorry. Now I've never tried that, so it might. But if you've tried a couple different roms, it probably doesn't.

Well, I don't know if I can help so much. I have been able to take my .sav files back and forth between my PC and Phone. I use Synkron on Windows to sync my SD Card It makes sure I have the newest .SAV file on both and then I continue mobile or at home.

Thanks, I really appreciate that. Ive come to that conclusion myself but its good to hear it from someone else, least I know Im not wrong and can give up trying. Ive scoured the internet, Droid forums, tried a Boktai forum, even tried to look for the developers EMail so that I can ask him personally but all to no avail.
Hopefully this gets fixed in a future update, Id love to play these games.

That game has a sensor of some sort built into it does it not? I'm assuming that an emulator like Gameboid won't be emulating extra hardware attachments based on the actual game cartridge.
It does but, supposedly, the ROM has a patch so that you can get around that and hit L and R to fill up your sun gauge. I dont know, maybe the patch is causing the problem. Thing is I cant tell if the ROMs I have are patched or not.

innnnnnnnnteresting. i'll have to load up my zelda game and save that way. thanks for the tip.
i can not find the gba bios.bin anywhere. can anyone post a link to a website where i can download it and maybe some instruction... thanks
The first link in Google seemed to work. Down load it and use your data cable to put it on your SD card and then tell Gameboid where it is. You'll be able to play any roms after that. Let us know if you have trouble!
Great app, works great after I got the key settings made. Only problem is I can't open in game saves, which I can see are there if I go through the files on my computer or a file manager. If I open up Final Fantasy VI I am asked if I want to start a new game with no other options. I can't mount the .SAV and .SS1 files, not an option offered when mounting the ROM. Anyone have any ideas?
This really isn't a big deal, once I get my late work out of the way I will gladly fork up the money for the app. I'm not cheap, unlike some people *cough cough*. The only reason this in-game save problem grinds my gears is that I don't get a function everyone seems to be getting for the same price ($0).
People, please don't be cheap on Android apps. Of all things not this. The app prices are very reasonable, this isn't like paying $60 for a game only good for the season. The developers put their faith in the Android community, a community smaller than the Apple app store. They don't turn a profit, they don't make new apps. And lets not forget the possibility of the open source OS and apps, we need these developers to make even more kick-ass apps.

yeah so the WinMo emulator i was using DOESN'T create game saves. they're only resident while the game is active. if you switch games or reset the game, the saves disappear.
that really sucks. the good news is i was only on level 5. lol.
So, i googled gba bios.bin and all of the ones i try i get the message that windows cannot open the file because it does not know how, or what created it. i need to know how to fix this, or if maybe a non-bin file would work.
