Default Final Fantasy VIII - FPSE

Hi, I am new here but have used forums previously and couldn't find anything listed under Final Fantasy 8 yet, please redirect me if there is.

I am running a Final Fantasy VIII psx ROM (Bin or Cue I believe) through FPSE (A playstation emulator for android systems) and have worked my way through to disc 3.

I am having trouble passing a particular scenario on the Raganarok when in the screenplay, but I believe it is something to do with the graphics/ sound configuration on the emulator.

Has anyone got experience in tinkering with emulator settings? (Unless there is anyone who has had this problem and knows a resolution - Just seems very niche for that to be the case ).

Furthermore, I cannot seem to access or find my Save files on the FPSE on my Google Nexus 7. It is not rooted, does anyone know if that makes a difference? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I played this through with epsxe without any problems. The save states are somewhere...you'll have to keep looking. If you're stuck (this is the maze with all of the switches, right?), you might want to google some walkthroughs since you probably missed something.

Thanks for your reply, unfortunately that's not the part, it's during a scenario involving Squall and Rinoa, a song is supposed to play and I keep getting stuck in the scenario, I can't seem to push it through to the next part, I have googled and spent a lot of time But thanks

1) Try turning off the sound. This used to be the case on older phones which couldn't handle music + graphics at once. Shouldn't be an issue with a N7, though
2) Try a different ROM. There could be some sort of piracy protection. This happened a LOT with DS roms when the R4 was big.

Your save states are likely in a hidden folder in the root of your internal SD card. I use PSX4Droid, the open source emulator, and it is in mnt/SDcard/.PSX/mcr1

The hidden folder starts with a period and mcr1 stands for memory card slot 1. Your path may be slightly different since you're stock, but same concept.

Thanks for your reply, firstly, I may try a different ROM actually, handn't thought of that, but it appears to be a common problem for people, however turning the sound off doesn't work beacuse as you say would expect the Nexus 7 to be able to handle it.

Secondly, to access that do I need to be rooted? I search with my browser (Free one from Google Store) - FPSE and it returns nothing, I search MCR, and nothing, even with putting a '.' before the letters to signify the file extension, hence why I think it must be something to do with me not being rooted?

Nope, you don't need to be rooted. They're hidden, so searching won't work for them. Try using Astro file explorer to try to track it down. Any file explorer that can see hidden files should be able to see it.

Is it possible, I am somehow running the Fpse emulator but it isn't actually installed? I'm more thinking of Windows, you can run an exe without installing it if its old sometimes as you may know. Is that possible here? However, I can see FPSE come up in my menu button, however Astro File Explorer didnt find anything under .mcr1 or mcr1 and I turned on the option to show hidden files, any ideas?

No, it's not possible. That's not how android works. An app has to be installed.

You're going to have to stop searching. It's not working. Try using Astro and look for it. It will be in the root of your SD Card. As I said earlier, the mcr1 files are based on what my PSX4Droid emulator uses. FPSE could be different. I prefer FOSS when all possible.

If it helps, there seems to be a graphics problem in fpse with some bioses.
I played Diablo 1 on fpse ob my htc one x, and with one of the bios roms , once a boss monster was nearby all the graphics started to get messed up, like colorful lines appearing randomly all over the screen.
This issue was fixed once i switched bios.

Try to switch bios file, maybe it fixes whatever is going on with your graphics.
