It was supposed to be released today. I've searched the marketplace and google and can't find it or any info saying anything but today being the release date.
It wasn't really announced for today, the original source was Engadget and they said it will launch around the Evo 4G Launch, not exactly on the same day, so expect it in the next week.

It's very frustrating! I kinda guessed it wouldnt be released on the 4th though because there's been nothing released on it.
I just wish one of these sites (phandroid, androidandme etc) would feckin contact them and ask them what the story is - a bit of proactive reporting rather than reactive!
I just "purchased" it from the demo on my droid X but i have no idea how it is going to charge me since i put in no CC or billing info of any kind. Maybe on my verizon bill???
If you click yes you wanna purchase it twice it just says thank you for buying...

EA released a demo version for the iPhone on the App Store yesterday (about a year after the full game came out), seems the Android version is not exactly their top priority at the moment
I remembering seeing a Google IO video stating that NFS Shift is exclusive to Verizon for the next 60-90 days. The only way to purchase it is through a link on the demo, but you have to be on Verizon's network for it to work.
I assume if you purchase through the demo it'll bill directly to your Verizon bill since only Verizon customers can purchase it at this time.
The rest of us will just have to wait until the exclusivity ends.
I got the demo work on my Vibrant and so far it's the best looking racing game on Android.
Where? I saw it, bought it, now it's gone. Still on my phone, but it doesn't appear on my downloaded apps, isn't on the Games Just In that I can see and neither searching for 'need for speed shift' or 'nfs shift' gets any results. I thought I'd check EA's site to see if they'd suddenly decided to do a Gameloft but I can't see anything about it on there. I'm on a regular Desire running 2.2 and getting a few framerate glitches, but it's still very playable, one of the best tilt racers I've come across - I'll be very annoyed if they yanked it for some ridiculous reason.
It comes up for me, try searching EA Mobile. The Sims 3 was also released for $4.99. I can't wait for Madden! Hopefully they don't wait as long to release Madden as they did with these two titles. Quarter 1 of 2011 can mean either January 1 or March 31...Here's to wishing that it's the former.
They really need to fix their servers though, or whatever the problem is that is causing the games not to download. Both Fifa 10 and The Sims 3 have lower ratings than they should solely because people aren't able to download the game after they purchase it.

Downloaded this yesterday as soon as I read a couple of reviews outside of the forums. Runs great om my EVO. The graphics are unbelievable...considering I'm playing on my cell phone
I'm glad that this works well on my device and no problems... took over 15 minutes to install, so the refund opportunity was gone before I could play it for the first time. :P

You're lucky. I hadn't enough time too and it force closes on my legend.
however, for those who can't find it: try with market enabler
For those of you who are lurking on this thread with EVOs, this game is perfectly stable on this device. So far, I haven't experienced a single force close, or graphical glitch, or other technical glitch. Although the Galaxy users seem to be reporting issues (both on this forum and in the Market), this game works perfectly fine on the EVO In my opinion, this game is easily the best racer on Android. Don't let the price scare you away!
For what it's worth, my EVO is running stock, unrooted Android 2.2.
Don't really want to root my phone, but thanks for the tip about Market Enabler anyway. I guess it must be US-only for now? Hey, at least I bought it before they realised they'd made a mistake - it's just annoying because I'm still on a basic 4GB SDHC card and wanted a bigger one, but I don't want to lose any apps by trading up...
It does run very well on my Desire, though. Some slowdown and glitches on very fast corners with several cars on screen at once, but not that much. It's still really playable - it'd make a pretty good regular game on a PSP, let alone a mobile. If you can find it on the market I highly recommend it.

The game works great on the Galaxy S, just don't get the market version.
If EA don't want my money then I'll obtain working versions of their games from elsewhere.

You can get a new card without losing any of your data. Just copy everything from your current SD card to your pc, put the new card in, and copy everything to the new card.
Oh, it doesn't mind if you do that? Neat. I only just recently got a decent phone after four or five years with the same old handset, so I wasn't sure. Thanks.
I purchased and downloaded it from the market the other day no problem, I've searched the market since and it has been pulled for whatever reason.
I just checked and it's there, and they've since added The Sims 3, so there are 4 EA Mobile games in the Market. Once they add Rock Band and Madden NFL 11, their presence will only grow.
It doesnt really matter if it's beta or not, it's the full game and everything works, unlike the version off the market.
Unfortunately the snapdragon version of the beta has got blurry textures and overall bad graphics, compared to the iphone version. So it does actually matters for me... (I don't know which one are you using)
