Default What does this notifcation icon mean?

It looks like a black SD card with a folded up corner and to the lower right of it is a small cog wheel.

It is sitting in my notifications list with no text beside it and it doesn't go away when I choose "clear notifications"

Strange

Just saw that on my phone when I unmounted it from the computer. But I had text next to it 'saying preparing sd card'

How about the icon that looks like home plate (pointing left) with a plus in the middle of it?

That's that "preparing SD card" notification that Ngo93 mentioned. I don't know why there's no text next to it, or why it doesn't just go away after a few seconds. Have you tried restarting your phone?

That happens when you have too many notifications to show them all. It's just telling you that there are more to see if you pull down the window shade.

Hi,

Yes I have restarted my phone. Interestingly I can access the sd card fine. The notification Icon will not go away and never has any text next to it - talk about annoying the crap out of me!

That's really strange. Have you tried unmounting and removing the SD card? This is just a guess, but it would make sense to me for the notification to go away, and then maybe things would be normal when you put it back in.

In case you don't already know to unmount the card, you can go to Settings > SD card & phone storage > Unmount SD card.

I hope this helps. If not, then hopefully someone else who has experienced something like this before can be more helpful.

This is happening to me also. Here's where it gets strange...

HTC Magic (Sapphire) 32A

So I had a custom ROM installed called SuperD. I thought that may be partly to blame, so I finally changed ROM to Cyanogen 5.0.8. Same problem.

I formatted the SD card at that point, so I'm not sure what else to try. I put my SD card into a friends phone and he didn't get the error. No idea what to do next.

If I could hide the icon I'd be happy... I might try deleting the icon.
