Orange rom update - htc hero - trackball issues...!?!

Updated my htc hero a while a go, when it came out (not sure when that was) and all seemed well, until i recently noticed the trackball stopped lighting up during use. Also, the most annoying issue, i cannot use the trackball for zooming with the camera. This may not be because of the update, just a coincidence, but a family member has the same phone without the update and everything works fine on that, so i can only put it down to the update. Any ideas why and how to fix???

Trackball zoom was lost with the update, shame as I like using it, now you have to finger rub for zoom.

Can't say I noticed my ball lighting up while in use, it lights up if I have a txt or email.

i have same problem yesterday i updated my phone i insalled ne version
but today tried to zoom, terrible problems problems
i dont know what to do
maybe factoru reset
