Mobile Carrier Settings
I had a couple of suggestions to post this into the main part of the forums...
I run a website for giving iPhones Mobile Data Settings to their iPhones.
A lot of mobile carriers don't give this information out on their websites and/or make it very hard to actually get the settings on their iPhones.
As the website has been running for a number of years I thought to myself.. why not improve the website and make it possible for Android Based devices to do similar.
I get LOTS of emails per day asking about the mobile settings for their iPhones and I presume the same would be for android devices as well. People just not knowing how to set up their Phones for Mobile Data and MMS.
So a few questions for the experts..
On the iPhone I can see a certain file (via a webpage) which sets the settings.
Is this possible on Android devices or does the configuration have to be send as a SMS via OTA/OMA DM message to set the settings? Or what is the "industry standard" way of doing this?
Do all Android devices have OTA capability or only on certain phones or certain versions of firmware?
In the APN Settings alot of places say to set the MCC/MNC? is this important or if they are blank the Phone will use whatever sim card is in the Phone and if I set 2 Data APN's with different MCC/MNC it will use the connection which matches the Setting?
Well that is it at the moment. If you have any questions/comments please let me know?
