I believe it is more a FOUR way sync since the method you propose includes using Outlook Connector to bring the Windows Live data into Outlook.... Then a sync to Google and then finally on to the phone.
I have problems with both the Outlook Connector (incredibly slow on my single account with 500mb of emails in it, even more incredibly slow when I add my additional 3 hotmail accounts to it). Also problems with the Google Calendar sync which takes literally days to perform a sync operation, even though there are only 300 entries in my calendar.
I'd definitely like to skip both steps and have a direct Android to Windows Live calendar sync, similar to the email and contacts sync on 2.2
